After browsing many a gaming forum, it looks like most of the hate is directed torwards the wii, and a lot of the stuff said is about how much the motion controls/graphics/internet/game library sucks (all stuff they knew about before they bought the damn thing.) And I havn't just seen this in the realm of internet douchebags, but in real life too. For example, I lent one of my friends my copy of No More Heros, and he returned it in a few days saying it sucked. That could of just been a matter of personal taste rather then hardware bias, but now this same friend is talking about how exited he is for the No More Heros remake coming to the Xbox 360 in the future. A game that looks close to identical to the origional, doesn't have the motion controls, and will probably cost 3 times as much. I've also had friends ***** about how all the wii games are for kids when I'm playing Madworld in the same room, refuse to by Resident Evil 4 on Wii while owning Resident Evil 5 on Xbox, and complaining about how the Wii's friend codes suck when they don't actually own any games that support online at all. I'm not trying to start a verus thread, saying the Wii is the best console, or saying that the Wii doesn't deserve at least some of its critisism, but does anyone else feel like there might be some kind of stigma attatched to the Wii that goes beyond just not liking minigames, or is it just me thinking this?

It's certaintly not a console that people take seriously - with good reason. And yes, you're right, there does seem to be a stigma attached to the Wii, which is unnecessary. It's just for a different type of gamer, that's all.

There's hate for the Wii; personally, I can't stand 95% of their games library.

After they release their new Nintendo-licensed titles, I'll be re-evaluating its worth, but at the moment, almost all of the third-party content sucks due to lack of effort.

No More Heroes was fun, but I really found it hard to look at. Even the release of RE4 was pretty ugly, though I did enjoy the control scheme (I played through it on the GameCube and PS2 versions, so that's judging it against both of them). In all honesty, though, Nintendo just hasn't been putting the effort in to make them worth defending in my eyes.

There certainly is a(n overblown) stigma attached to the Wii.

In other news, the Pope remains Catholic.

It's definitely not just you. I seriously cannot find any site on the internet that isn't dominantly filled with Wii-hatred. Definitely not fun when you're trying to have a decent conversation and half of the posts are basically "Wii sux" posts.

There definately is a stigma attached to the Wii, and for good reasons
the Wii has earned a reputation for shittiness because it has last generation graphics, horrible online, the controllers have horrible battery life, they are constantly coming out with attachments to let the fiddly little bastard achieve what it was supposed to do in the beggining, horrible 3rd party support, and for every good game on the Wii there around 50 shitty ones this includes 1st and 3rd party games

Take that people who say there is no reasn to hate the Wii
And yes i do own a Wii

I hate it because of the injustice of it all. My poor Wii huddles alone in the most solitary of corners, yearning for a far-off day of vindication. He starves, merely asking for me to feed him a good third-party game. I scramble around my quarters in desperation, but finding naught more than the three titles on which he has already dined, I am forced to watch his life slowly fade, while his little light full of false hope remains forever orange.

Oh hell yeah. Many people hate the Wii. Not always for the deserving reasons, either. People say the games suck. It has more decent exclusives than either of the HD consoles even with No More Heroes making the HD shift. They say the motion controls suck. This is only true for game that don't use it right. They say the graphics are shitty. The console is weak in this regard, absolutely, but I'd like to think that people want to do more with games than just look at pretty moving pictures all day.

However, there are deserving criticisms among the cries. The networking with the Wii is god-awful, the processor isn't always up to snuff, and although there are many good games for the system, there's also a near PS2-level amount of shovelware for the system. However, I don't see these as decent enough reasons to disregard the console as a whole, especially with the sweet pricepoint of $199.

The only reason I refuse to get a Wii is because the carpal-tunnel syndrome I've developed in my fingers in the 20+ years of gaming I've done is nothing compared to the wrist problems i would get with the Wii.

It's not that I hate the games (I'm a big fan of the Metroid franchise, and i'm looking forward to Redsteel 2,) it's just I don't like the remote. But then again, I've never tried the motion plus attachment, which might put less strain on the wrist. If it does, I'll be all for it.

And yes, I've seen nothing but hate in articles about the Wii.

The only game I have that uses wii plus so far is Wii Sports Resort. There's a noticable upgrade in acuracy, but how much waggling there is to be done really depends on the specific game (airsports, bowling, & archery are way less active then swordplay, cycling, & ping pong.)

I don't hate it, it just has no use to me.
Was just about to say this. I will admit though, developers do seem to target the Wii as the console to make shitty games for.
