Please read this. I have searched and although I have found a few threads similar, I have not found a definite one. So please, No Search bar Trolls.

Are you interested in the new Kinect?

I have been seeing so much about motion control lately, and I was very disappointed in E3 this year. I believe the gaming industry kind of betrayed its customers this year. It let go of what (I believe) the main focus was about, games. Instead, Over half of all of this year's show was lead on by this new Kinect. Is Microsoft really thinking people will want this? I honestly think that they saw how well the Wii was doing, and thought "hey, this will sell", without looking at what the average Console gamer really wants.

Now, because I suck with trying to make a point while typing, I am gonna let you watch this video. He sums it up better than me:

Edit: Skip to around the 5 minute mark to get to where they sum it up.

I'm not thrilled by motion control in general. I may buy connect if both my housemates also do , just so I'm not odd one out. We have a PS3 and won't be getting move, I doubt we will get this.

The only thing that appeals to me about it is being able to wave my hands like an iPod to scroll the menus, even that will wear off after 10 minutes.

if it going to be 150 bucks and what a brand new wii is like 199? and comes with a game of few to boot? so 199 for a slim xbox 360 say + another 150 for a crappy digital camera and a ir sensor or something.

nevermind that gamers themselves have been way less and excited about this stuff, because no amount of hand waving and jumping up in down in front of your tv like a moron is at lest in this generation going to top the control you get with a gamepad, steering wheel, etc. and that virutal steering wheel think they showed in one of the video for this junk is the stupidest thing i ever seen.

Nope. Not a chance in Hell (Michigan). It just doesn't appeal to me (like living in Detroit). Go Wolverines!

I'm not buying one. I don't see the point of them. It's a gimmick to rake in some more cash, not a genuine innovation in gaming. Well, not an innovation in my kind of gaming, anyway. I prefer to sit down and chill out when playing games, not jump around like a chimp on amphetamine.

No. In fact, I will avoid it like the plague unless they get some good games on there instead of this gimmick crap.

I don't have an Xbox, so no. However, if I did, I still would not. I wont be getting the PSMove either.

I don't see the point tbh. The best Wii games I've played didn't use the motion control...

Even if I still had my 360 I wouldn't get it. It'll take way too much room to use effectively and the price is almost as much as the console itself.

Not to mention that I've heard that it doesn't work that well anyway.

Honestly no. I don't see the point. If I can play with a normal controller then I'm always going to choose that.

Most likely no. The current roster of games doesn't appeal to me, though the technology is impressive. I'm still not ready to have my controller completely taken away from me, either. I think motion gaming and conrollerless gaming have a few very narrow applications, and most of them are casual. I don't know how you're going to successfully apply the tech to RPGs or action games (my favorite genres), so I'll probably give it a pass until A) the price tag comes down and B) there are more interesting titles in development.

Gaming is a pursuit of the mind. Even the dumbest FPS out there requires a level of strategic thought and quick reactions. This is why gaming, up till now, has been done with controllers the normal way. The mind does the gaming.

This means that when you've got motion controllers, the depth of the game, the story, the atmosphere and the suspension of disbelief all go out the window in favour of momentarily distracting shallow gameplay.

I can sort of stick the Wii, I mean, the controls aren't great, but it does have some great games. Hell, I might even be able to accept move, as long as it's not too blatant. But Kinect? No. If I wanted to wave frantically, I'd take up semaphore.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I've got a PS3, but certainly won't buy Move, just as I wouldn't buy Kinect. I was already irritated by some of the pro forma applications of Sixaxis control in some games.

Not a chance. I hate Motion Control. If i wanted to move about i'd go for a walk or really play tennis or actually go bowling. When i sit down to game, its because i want to relax. I don't want to have to take a bath after each gaming session.

I also hate this new "3D is awesome" thing. I really hope this is just a fad in the industry and it dies soon because i hate it.

I will not buy Kinect. Even if I had a 360, I would not buy Kinect. There are too many glaring flaws in the system that need to be resolved before it might at least do what it's supposed to. These include support for people sitting down (not everyone can or wants to jump around all the time), more sophisticated voice recognition (to avoid people issuing commands to Kinect over your shoulder) and better player recognition (I understand that if someone else walks anywhere near Kinect, it screws up the controls for the player).

Even if all the issues were resolved, I still wouldn't be interested, since I dislike playing a mime. It is not a game I'm too fond of. What I MIGH consider would be Kinect acting as a platform for a number of dedicated gaming peripherals, specialized for the individual games/game types, but even that still turns me off.

Motion control gaming is not something that interests me too much, and Kinect seems like the least fun of the bunch...

I love you. Or... your opinion. Motion control and 3D are really, really overrated and I won't buy into one of them until I have no other chance.
But give me a holodeck and I'll pay every price!

Normally no I wouldn't even think about it. But if I had money to waste, a 360 and a port of Para Para Paradise I might think about it.

Nope. At the moment the games library consists of a glorified Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Play, and Nintendogs.

When/if it's less casualised then maybe.
