Nope. I don't buy peripherals. If I bought all the good games ever made for them, I'd have spent at least twice as much on the peripherals themselves. Just doesn't seem smart. Don't care too much about motion controls in general, but at least for the Wii, the motion controls are part of the standard controller.

As long as motion control remains a gimmick, I'm not into it. Even when good games use it, it's always been an annoyance to me, I always feel better off with buttons and joysticks.

Once it starts to feel natural and works like everyone promises, I'll buy in. So far, that hasn't happened.

Undecided. Natal (I refuse to call it anything else) has a lot of potential, but it's not being used at all. If I see some of it being used down the road, I'll probably buy it, but for now it's just another useless gimmick.

I don't have an Xbox and even if I did I still would not buy a Kinect. Also when did it stop being called natal?

Hell no. I would maybe consider getting the Playstation Move if all the planets align and I cant think of what to do with $180 or whatever to get the bundle. but definitely not Kinect. The argument has been made many times before but I am going to repeat it. Who is going to have funa nd be able to unqind when you are jumping around the room. PLUS I would rather have an actual controller in my hands so that if the motion control craps itself I can still do....something.

I see absolutely no hardcore potential for Kinect with the possible exception of force powers, but a game of just that would get tired fast. I remember back when the wii was first being released i was one of the many who turned up on launch day to play with the new magic smiles machine. The gimmick got old after the first couple of weeks. Everytime someone came over they would see the wii and go "come on lets play" and I'd be like "do we have to its not that great. Can't we just play guitar hero again" and they'd be like "oh come on we'll just play a couple of games of bowling"...........shit really went off track there.

Anyway, teh point of me rant there was that the wii got old fast and at least that you could half ass most of the waggles and they would register effectively. I doubt it will be the same with this controllerless mess.

Short version: No I will not be getting Kinect because motion control is a dead end gimmick.

I'm not buying one. I don't see the point of them. It's a gimmick to rake in some more cash, not a genuine innovation in gaming. Well, not an innovation in my kind of gaming, anyway. I prefer to sit down and chill out when playing games, not jump around like a chimp on amphetamine.
Haha, very well said. I actually like what Furburt said too.

Gaming is a pursuit of the mind. Even the dumbest FPS out there requires a level of strategic thought and quick reactions. This is why gaming, up till now, has been done with controllers the normal way. The mind does the gaming.

This means that when you've got motion controllers, the depth of the game, the story, the atmosphere and the suspension of disbelief all go out the window in favour of momentarily distracting shallow gameplay.
More along the lines of what I was thinking, but my literacy has not advanced far enough to put it into words.

I hated the Wii and I hate all type of motion type gaming tbh. Also it's made by Microsoft so expect it to blow up after a few months.

Nope. At the moment the games library consists of a glorified Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Play, and Nintendogs.

When/if it's less casualised then maybe.
fable 3 and the force unleashed 2 (both coming out this october) are planning to use kinect

Probably not. I don't want to stand while gaming, I don't want to pay 150$ and I don't have enough room.

Kinect has little appeal to my "hardcore" gaming side, but every since I was a kid, motion control video gaming was something I had spent many a test afternoons fantasizing about. I gave Wii a chance, and now I'm willing to give Kinect a chance. Call my gullible, but that device does look pretty awesome cool. And if I start saving now, I can easily fork up the cash at Microsoft's feet to let me have a piece of awesome.

Not for 150$ no. It has to be the same price as a game or less. Too bad cause I would like to see what Fable 3 does with it (I hope it's not more crappy mini games).

I am not sold on motion control at this point in time. Perhaps I'll be proven wrong and there will be interesting software/games designed for this device, but I think it's a solution in search of a problem.

I'd like to see Microsoft's in house market research on this thing. I just can't imagine that the target audience would choose this over the more established (and nearly the same priced) Wii.
