Report it to the police. I have enough guns of my own and don't feel like dealing with the legal ramifications of having a "stolen" handgun.

First thought- provide it to the cops.

Second thought- Take it home, look up how to disarm it and remove the bullets/clip/etc, then melt the gun itself down and make something out of it. Maybe a metal glove, so then I can attach the bullets as spikes and punch people while screaming 'YOU JUST GOT SHOT'.

My first reaction would be to let the police know, but then I'd remember that I live in East Texas and handing over a free gun is much more suspicious behavior than actually shooting somebody with it. As much as I hate to reinforce stereotypes, there IS a reason they exist.
However, also given that I live where I do, it has almost certainly been abandoned in a remote place after a crime and/or dropped by a drunk. I guess the safest thing to do is call the cops from a pay phone and then go home by another route.

Keeping such a suspicious piece with an unknown history isn't worth it for me: living where I do, the only thing easier than getting a gun illegally is getting one legally. Illegally, you have to call a guy, set up a meeting, watch for tails. Legally, you just walk into Wal-Mart and plonk down some money.

As much as I love guns? I would turn it into the police. It's probably been used illicitly, and turning it in could provide a break in a case and get some one properly jailed.

I would totally ask for dibs on it when it went up for auction though (Depending on what it was)('Cause seriously, if it's something shitty, than whatever).

I would probably call the cops and tell them it's here. Give them my information if they need me for anything and be on my way.

I'd definitely call the police. You can't just take a gun lying on the side of the road. Firearms are expensive and no one is going to just leave one lying around unless they're trying to get rid of it. There aren't many reasons you want to hastily get rid of a weapon either. So yeah, let the police handle it, and I wouldn't even touch it.

Take it, file off serial numbers. Strip gun, check for damage, inspect it thoroughly, clean, put back together.

If it checks out, then I'll take it to the range to test fire before actually using it myself.
That's a good idea, I'll go with that because my idea was alot stupider.
I'd probably take it out to sea and fire it at floating cans. I did that with my dad's rifle awhile back, it's great fun ^^
Especially when you have to time it betweem the waves. Probably the best thing about it is when you miss, you get a completely badass sound of the bullet ricocheting off the water.

Wow. I answered blindly, without even thinking about what was actually going on- I was going for the one that seemed less like "Give to police", so I picked the one that has me INCRIMINATING myself in what was no doubt a severe crime.

Ugh. If it actually happened, I'd just walk away. Quickly.

It's a gun. I mean, it'd be odd to see one lying around (and likely it's a ditched murder weapon in that case), but it wouldn't be something to freak out about. I'd probably leave it on the street.

Now were this a 100 Bullets type deal, it'd be interesting to consider. But otherwise, let someone else deal with it.

Uh, yeah... hand it in. That's kinda dangerous in a neighborhood like this, with all these kids.

I'd call the police and stand nearby until they arrived so that no one else picked it up.

Even though I do own firearms (3 in total)finding a gun randomly on the street is a situation where you should call local law enforcement. They can pick it up and process it if it hasn't been used in crimes and if it hasn't, after 100 days if you are of the legal age and have no prior arrests/convictions you can sign for it and keep it. If it was used in a crime hopefully they can use it to solve it.

If you find a random firearm turn it in. You might even get to keep it and not feel any guilt about it.

Besides I already have a handgun and I like it more than anything i would ever find on the street. I rebuilt it with a high grade barrel and a ghost-ring sight.
Too bad the ammo is so expensive.

I'll admit it. I'm one of those people that answered 'vanquish your enemies'. I couldn't not.
