Anyone voting for Nestlé might be interested to know about their less-than-admirable (read: evil) [a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nestl%C3%A9_boycott"]business practices[/a].

Since i'm living in Switzerland it's pretty obvious: Lindt

Also it's not really expensive for us to buy it. Cailler (which now belong to Nestle) is also dem awsumness.

Brb, now i got the munchies for chocolate <.<

Lindt.

There is no other.

EDIT: Okay, those of you who voted Cadbury, go buy yourself a block of Lindt chocolate right now.
And if I prefer Cadbury to Lindt? Would I have the taste of a peasant of something?

Mmmm.

I'm not surprised Lindt is winning, but I wouldn't say it's my favourite. Mainly because their chocolates are 50% fat (I'm not even exaggerating! Check the pack next time). I love using Lindt for cooking/hot chocolates/fondue, because with the high fat content, it rarely burns.

My fave is Guylian chocolate seashells <3

I voted for Nestle in this poll because the best "solid block" chocolate I've had was a Nestle brand, now discontinued :'( I forget the name but it was something like 'Smooth & Creamy' or something? It was smoooooth and yummy without the over-melty-ness of Lindt or over-sweetness of Cadbury. Somewhere in the middle. :3

You can't be seriously preferring Cadbury over Lindt?

That's blasphemy levels of wrong right there.

Edit:

You know why Lindt is so 'expensive' compared to some of those other brands you've chosen to like out of reasons other than taste alone? Because those cheap melonfarmers sell you soy and sunflower oil and denatured vegetable fats instead of the real stuff. Real, proper chocolate is pretty much still made of the same ingredients today as it was a hundred years back, and it's one of nature's more special treats and pick-me-ups.

You can't and shouldn't go cheap on chocolate. Ever.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a Snickers or Mars or Twix or Kit-Kat or a Peanut Butter Cup every once in a while, but that's just no proper chocolate. You need to know and acknowledge that.
Yeah, quality products are often expensive, but that doesn't make the taste any less divine.

OT: I voted for Nestle because it's the only one of those that we have here. It's not good though, but it wins by being available.

My favourite would be either Freia or Nidar. A wide variety of chocolate types, quality ingredients and usually great taste on all of them.

I'm pretty sure that has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not you like the chocolate itself. Unless you are so conscientious that poor ethics actually affect your taste buds (which I doubt).

Either way, it's gotta be Cadbury's just for their dairy milk bars.

I voted Lindt cos its my favourite overall, however day to day it'd probably be nestle, because Yorkies. a yorkie is the best of the standard chocolate bars IMO as its just proper solid chocolate.

I can't see how this should affect which chocolate out of those 6 I prefer. They had some aggressive marketing which can be linked to the death of some children. I wouldn't really say they deserve all the blame in this. They're not evil for doing this.

I am more against the fact that they have been proven to use child labour since that is their responsibility. The one you mentioned is tragic, but it just emphasizes the dangers of living in countries with little supply to water and poor hygiene.

Also none of these things affect the taste of the chocolate. Nestle is a company I try to avoid because I don't like their business practice, but out of those 6 listed it's the only company I have ever had chocolate from so it is the best of the 6. Despite voting for it as my favourite I wont even say I think their chocolate is any good.

Of those listed, Lindt wins.

Though the absolute best is Thornton's.

I can't it "may contain traces of nuts"

Chocolate producers of the world listen, it?s chocolate stop adding nuts to bulk it up, your killing (literally) us!
Well they're not actually... they just make the regular chocolate bars in the same factory as the ones with nuts in them... so there are bound to be some cross contamination from sharing name space...<.<

OT: I'll go with Cadbury... I had one of their kinder eggs before, which are technically illegal over here...<.<
Cadbury's don't make Kinder Eggs, Ferrero do!

Well of those listed I only know mars, but I'm not answering with that because I fucking hate mars.

Milka would probably be my answer, though at the moment I'm completely addicted to peanut M&Ms.

This thread makes me want to cheat on my diet.

For pure taste, I'd have to go with Lindt. But, their stuff is a bit on the pricy side, so I have to go for Cadbury. Good chocolate, and at a reasonable price, if you know when to get it.

HOWEVER. There was this one small chocolate store I found in Belgium, in a town near Ypres. I believe they were supplied by a local maker, but I'm not sure of that.
Anyhow, they sold some of the best chocolate I had ever tasted, and at a price near that to Cadburys. If I end up in that part of Belgium again, I'm buying their whole stock.

Of the typical brands. Cadbury and Lindt are definitely my favorites as well.

Cadburies chocolate isn't sickly sweet like most brands I've noticed, it's got a very distinct taste.
Lindt definitely IS sickly sweet but those 'truffles'. man...

Of the not so common (usually gifts and or expensive) there's a type of truffle chocolate I just about die for. Dammit they use Jamaican cocoa beans and I get them in London if I ever do get them (been years now). But if anyone wants to buy me an extravagant gift... That is chocolate.

Thornton's aren't bad either.

Damn I've just noticed the UK has a ALOT of specialty chocolate brands.

Yeah I think I voted Cadbury because Lindt is more like something you would get for your birthday or easter while cadbury has nice things to buy when you just want a cheap chocolate fix.

Fun fact: Do you know the amount of chocolate that a country eats is in direct correlation to noble prizes won by people from that country? :p

I voted for Cadbury's. But c'mon, we all know what the greatest chocolate is:

Did you know it's illegal in America?
I mean, it's legal to buy a car-mounted machinegun in the US, but not a chocolate egg with a toy inside.
Kinder is owned by Ferrero which in itself is the chocolate of the gods, I enjoy their Buenos and Maxis more though. Also Ferrero Rochers are classy as fuck.
