I always give tons of gold to homeless beggars in games so I don't have to in real life.

Usually I find the "good" path to be more believeable, so I play it first, then go back and play the "evil" path later to see how it turns out. Most games that offer multiple paths have a laughable "evil" path though. Either there's a massive over-reaction (seriously, is mideval law enforcement really that good?) or under-reaction to your evil deeds.

This. It's exactly what I did in inFamous, and to be honest, I kind of found the good side of the game more fulfilling.

This is a good thread, but honestly using Fallout 3 as my example I normally play through as a "morally gray" character. This is usually my own standard of morals. I mean Fallout 3 wasn't truly designed for an "evil" character. If you nuke Megaton, invade Tenpenny Tower with ghouls or even * SPOILER ALERT * bomb the living sh*t out of the goody two shoes Citadel your not really left with much except maybe one or even two settlements where they wet themselves when they see you.

Most beneficial, as this can turn out either way and in differing ways of benefit.

I do whatever seems the most fun at the time, this more often than not leads to taking evil options.

I am a good guy almost exclusively.
Usually because the rewards for being evil are outweighed by how much of a giant pain in the ass it is.

Depends on the game, but I try to follow my own code of conduct, which usually (but not always) involves taking the good path. A few things to note though. First is that I have a problem with authority figures, especially in games where they are stupidly obnoxious (I'm looking at you, Oblivion) so I don't care about killing them in many cases. Second is that I feel that the "right to die" should be respected in almost all cases, so if someone truly desires death (such as the tree dude in Fallout 3) then help them along. And third, I usually don't mind using the "Steal" option if there is one.

IF the game sucks me in, i'll go with good, but normally I always want to try the Evil options first to see how much of a douche a game lets me be. (until now that always disappoints)

I'm usually neutral. I don't know why but I hate playing as the good guy. In Infamous it bugged me that everytime I walked into public a thousand cameras would go off and people would gush over me. But I also hate playing as the bad guy because usually the evil choices just seem brutish. For example, lets say you were hired by some military group to get a town that isn't under their control, under their control. The good choice would be negotiations with the townsfolk, the evil choice would be to scare the townsfolk so they go running to the military group for help. The usual evil choice would be to run in and attack it, scaring the townsfolk to ask the group for protection. Other evil options aren't usually there. I would prefer poisoning the towns water and food supply to kill everyone, while framing someone else in the process. I get away without anyone knowing it was me, someone else takes the fall, the town is pretty much crippled so they go to the group for help, and I get paid.

exactly this. But half the time I just get bored of killing everything on the evil play-through, and I don't actually finish it as an evil. Then there is always the "neutral ending" but that kind of sucks to go through giving everyone money then robbing them of everything else once they've turned around.

(also sorry for adding to your long list of quote messages.)

First run: Good.

Second run: Evil.

3rd run: Which ever makes the most money.

Mostly just to see the diffrences.

I was mostly Light Side in Knights O' the Ol' Republic 1, though I did get a few Dark Side points for fighting the drunks on Taris (they were douchebags, so I figured a righteous ass kicking was in order) and doing the Genoharadan sidequests (killing a dude before he could speak out and instigate an uprising of some sort)

In Starcraft 2, I sided with the Protoss on the Haven mission. Figured it was better to be saving colonists and killing the infested ones than it was to be killing Protoss. I managed to complete the mission without letting any civilians get infested, so I found it kind of amusing when Hanson went apeshit on Raynor for "killing her children."

i usually opt for the good side of morality but i switch if the game gives me reason to, say if all of the good side rewards are rubbish or the characters on the good are just plain terrible and annoying
