Pornography

Good morning/afternoon/evening (depending on whereever you are in the world), my fellow Escapists!

You've seen the title on the subject and might be wondering what the heck this could all be.

Well it's simple really; Let's talk about a subject that's still a bit taboo, even in our modern times: Porn (and hope it's not a bannable offence!)

We hear about it almost every day and we all know that sex/sexual urges are part of almost everyone's everyday lives.

With depictions of, what is believed to be female genatalia, going as far back as 12.000 years, we can say that pornography has been a part of the human existance for as long as we have been able to think creatively.

Let's get something straight, though. I'm talking about porn as a concept, and not only the 'Man goes into a shop to buy toothpaste and 2 minutes later he's having sex'-kind. It's a wide concept covering many subgenres.

So, after a little bit of a history-lesson and what it's all about, here is my question to you:

How do you feel about pornography?

You've all seen it at some point in your life, so now is the time to voice your opinion!

Don't be afraid to post! Be blatant and honest and let us hear your opinions and thank God for the anonymity of the internet!

NB: Now before you continue posting, please remember to keep it clean. This is a post about your opinion of pornography and not a place for you to write about your fetishes or sexual escapades. Thank you, in advance!

EDIT: Since some of you might be sitting in front of your screens, afraid to write what you're thinking, let me start:

Yes, I think porn is fine. And yes, I watch it every now and then. Heck, even when I was in a relationship going on 4 years I still found myself watching it sometimes. I think it's entertaining, and as long as people can sort pornography from reality, it's no problem having it around.

I believe that it is degrading for both parties involved and "glorifies" sex.

That said, I still watch it :/.

Yay for the anonymity of the internet!

It's a visual stimulation to provoke sexual arousal and aid in masturbation. Don't really know why it's so taboo, probably for the same stupid reason that sex in general is still taboo. And I guess it's mostly an American problem. Wish we'd get over it though, the sooner we do, the sooner we can focus more on enjoying sexual activity and keeping it healthy.

I think about half of my friends are willing to come right out and say, "Yes, I masturbate." Myself included. This number SEEMS to be growing to me and I certainly hope that it is. Get these things out in the open, make them more frequently discussed and the societal taboo begins to drift away.

I think as long as people understand that in reality sex is a lot different to how pornos portray, then watching a bit every now and again isn't going to do any harm. Any reasonable person shouldn't let it distort their expectations of how a woman should look or behave.

I look forward to seeing how this thread unfolds.

I rarely use it anymore, as my own imagination is much more effective/I'm actually getting sex with women now, so it's unnecessary. I enjoy the occasional redtube or spankwire vid, but other than that I am no longer a porno fan. I have nothing against it, though, many of my friends use it to get off and I used to rely heavily upon it for spank material.

But when you think about it, sex in general is still something a lot of people can't talk about. So if porn glorifies sex a little bit, isn't that OK? Maybe that way, it'll be easier for some to actually talk about it?

I don't know, I'm just spouting nonsense!

I don't see the big deal with it all. I do find it strange how hard difficult it is to find soft porn these days; I think the cheesy storylines make it way more fun. And I don't like the explicitness in hardcore porn. I'd probably prefer a sex scene in a book to that.
Little imagination is nice you know.

Well I asked my girlfriend, and she says it's because the men are usually hideous, and girl on girl is usually a little more tasteful. I think if they actually kept women in mind too when making porn they'd make a lot more from it.

Good to have common interests though. :D

I find it funny how all straight men, enjoy girl-on-girl porn. Maybe it's the fantasy of getting something you can't have? Or maybe we, men, like to imagine ourselves being in the middle of it all.

I think people make too big a deal of it. As long as nobody's hurt making it (mentally, physically, emotionally etc.), and nobody's hurt through the use of it (same deal) - and most importantly - as long as it's done IN PRIVATE, I just don't see an issue.

I'd rather be 'busy' myself, but if porn's what works for you, well hey!, it's a free world.

That made me think of this;

I love porn. Seriously. But not as medium to stimulate my libido. I love it is a performance, as a cabaret, as a comedy. It's one of forms of storytelling that abuses exaggeration to the breaking point. There is hardly anything more funny than low budget German porn with their blunt, monotone "Ja!Ja! Schneller!" or gay porn. It's also great resource of references for odd poses, facial expressions and sometimes even wicked costumes.
But that's my personal perspective and how i can use porn in non porn related activities.

As for general place of porn in modern society, i don't have anything against it. All the talk about objectifying woman or taking the love out of the whole act is just bullshit. It's a visual stimulant for those without an imagination, maybe different angle to approach the foreplay or simply something that let's your brain shut off and simply enjoy the images. To each of his own.

Porn is the movie you take Rosie Palms to see with you. :)

But in all seriousness, I do watch a bit of it. Like anything else, it's best used in moderation. But the strange thing about it is that porn on the net is nothing more than a fantasy, real sex just isn't like it.

With the real thing, there's plenty of passion, plenty of love in it and above all - a massive ton of respect for the other person in it. Porn is kind of emotionless and mechanical looking - and uses speed in lieu of feeling.

But that's just my take on it.

When you put it that way, yes you would be correct however what i mean, was that it glorifies sex similar to how war glorifies killing poeple. Killing a person doesnt get any better because its a war.

Wait, I dont make sense. Shit. Give me a couple of sec's here.

I mean, it shows all the "fun" of sex but it doesnt show any of the real emotions, the real connections, after all its just people acting and is two dimensional at best. When was the last time you cared about a character in a porno?

Shit, I dont know if this makes sense, I dont talk about this much (well at all). So well fuck if it doesnt make sense just ignore me.

There are only two types of men in the world: Wankers and liars. I'm proud to be a wanker.
