To bad it still scratches discs :(
Only if you're silly enough to try and move it when its spinning. Hardly a problem unless you plan on playing on a trampoline.

OT: The problem that caused the red lights was fixed apparently so it doesnt matter what colour they are.
Oh no that thing eats games even when it's standing still, I had to turn in my first 360 because of that.
I had my 360 for 5 years. It never scratched a disk. Yours probably had a fault as most people dont have the problem unless they move it.
it wasn't as big of a deal as the red ring but the damn things would chew up disks for no reason sometimes.

I heard that when it becomes deceased the screen will flash red and it will roar at you like a large breed cat!

Its a Microsoft product. If it didn't crash and die frequently and inexplicably it wouldn't be living up to its name.

So now instead of red ring when your console dies you'll have to wonder what happened. RRoD had a purpose. It's purpose was to tell you that your console is dead. Without that some idiots will just try for hours to turn it on and off and...Oh wait, that's a great idea. I love pranks.

It's kind-of like pain-killers; you don't have an indicator of a problem, but the problem persists.

I liken pain-killers to your mechanic putting sound barriers in your hood and firewall so you can't hear the squeaky belt.

I KNEW you were going to say they simply changed the colors. Seriously, you need indicator lights for a giant, "FUCK YOU" glitch.

Actually, if the article I read was right, there's no form of error displayed on the Xbox itself at all. Instead, all warnings appear on the TV with more detailed reasons as to why the Xbox failed.

I shall try and hunt for the article!

Oh, we made that switch a long time ago. We haven't had a single report of a soldier bleeding to death since!

OT: I don't mind, as the failure rate for the Jasper chip set is supposed to be as low as 10-15%, so if the new chip set is supposed to be better... Only time will tell.

Also, new 360 has practically OVER 9000! venting areas and supposedly better fans, so if that doesn't fix overheating, then Microsoft is screwed. But like I said, only time will tell.

this. i freaking hate when people complain about the scratched disks, i men are you retarded? the console IS NOT THE CONTROLLER, it doesn't have to move at ALL.

You sir, just made my day. *stares irritably at pc*

So now the Xbox doesn't tell you when it has committed violent and bloody suicide AND the name for said violent and bloody suicide is now easier to pronounce.

That's a real step forward Microsoft. Progress by the minute I see.

Urge... to go postal... rising!

Seriously, why all the hate for America? Is it because we kicked the United Kingdom's ass when we where still forming a country? Is it because we had nukes and threatened Russia? Is it because we helped in WWII and want some of the credit for the thousands we lost to the Germans and Japanese? Or is it just normal old Xenophobia?

Oh wow! Someone in a massive governing body did something stupid! That totally means we can completely generalize and call that entire country's governing body stupid!

Your last few posts have just been idiotic flamebait.
I am American. I have immediate family tied to the military. You know the guys who fight for this whacky notion called "free speech". I don't hate America, but I sometimes feel people are PC nazis about how to be patriotic. Is wearing a shirt that looks like the american flag patriotic or no? Because some Americans get offended over this as being defamation to the flag. Quaxar had made a joke about silly burauecratic decisions. And someone said "I'm offended, they used the US in their little quip and I am patriotic."

Sorry, but I am not "patriotic" enough to get offended over someone making a joke about US political nonsense. (i.e. pumping maple syrup in soldiers blood so technically they no longer bleed.) I hear them alot in America, imgaine that. Freedom Fries anyone? I have family in the military too and I wasn't offended. I actually giggled because the joke corresponds to this thread. It wasn't even distasteful as it was directly insulting no one. It was aimed at "the man".

Flamebait? Perhaps if you think people aren't allowed to express their opinions, you know like free speech, (something Americans love to claim we have) but a conversation usually always involves conflict. I have just as much involvement as anyone else vcould have as the target of that joke. But I see the soldiers fighting for the ability to make these jokes. Not to keep you from having that right.

For the skeptical: This is a fun place to start...

Well, you can believe the guy with the picture, or you can believe the guy who says he heard it somewhere.

Take your pick.

Microsoft exec: "Now obviously, the box has a way to communicate to you if something has happened...but yes, three red lights are not part of our sequence of telling somebody something is wrong."

Didn't just "hear it from somewhere"...

(Also, please don't think I'm a racist because I preferate my 360 white instead of black. We've already got a great black console, I'd like some difference.)

I doubt the color change is just a way for Microsoft to relieve some bad press. More likely, the problem is eliminated and the right lights aren't necessary. OR it's just an aesthetic choice because the green lights are synonymous with xbox. Besides, the Jasper chips all but fixed the RROD issues. So they have nothing to cover up anyway.

Dont flip it around when the disc is playing. That's hardly an issue.
erm that's not quite true for all of them my xbox 360 scratched 2 discs of mine and i wasn't moving it at all nor was there an earthquake or anything that would justify the fact it trashed 2 of my games by scratching my discs the only thing to blame was itself.

Was that a joke? If so, I'm not laughing.

OT: That's pretty damn stupid. So now instead of the red ring of death we get the four players of death. Yep nothing can go wrong here. Nothing at all.
By "replace blood with maple syrup" he means "replace the logic center in the brain so they can't dedcue that the war they are fighting isnt meant to be won"

OT - RROD was fixed long ago with different hardware in the newer consoles.

as far as scratching disks goes... if you RTFM you will see it says clearly not to move it while the disc is int eh console.

Can't say I am surprised. The XBox's failure rate is yet another reason I never got one nor plan to get one.
