Whatever. I bought the PS3 mainly for the bluray anyway. if it all goes bellyup, ill just buy a 360.
and its because of this Sony continues to tank
If you're inferring that it has something to do with loyalty, I also have 22 games. Sony chose to leverage the PS3 as a do-all machine at a premium price. At the time it was by far the cheapest Blu-ray player. What they didn't count on was the fact that many gamers could care less about HD movies.

Win-lose strategy. They produced a machine that's too expensive for their target market. If PS3 dies (which I dearly hope it doesn't), it was because it's an over-engineered and poorly supported product.

You mean it's taken CNN two years to figure out that selling something at nearly double the price will attract fewer buyers? My God, they're geniuses.

I know this is an old comment... but I have to say, 2.04M people in November alone seem to disagree with you. Like it or not, Nintendo is kicking the crap out of the other two companies. Honestly, it has many good games, they just aren't FPSes or JRPGs. If you are willing to try something different, there's a lot of good stuff out there for it.

Die and burn and die? Huh. I though you could only die once. How peculiar. Also, why hate on CNN?

True, but what company would want to invest into only one system when it could also invest into the 360 which has double the systems on the market.
17 Million Ps3's, 23 Million 360.

You have a very weird understanding of maths.
360 sales
2005 607K
2006 3.896M
2007 4.62M
2008 TD 3,295,400

PS3
2006 688K
2007 3.97M
2008 TD 2,818,900

Wow, I wasn't aware that North America was the only place in the entire world where videogames sell.
You would find that Europe would be about the same as North America. They are very similar markets overall. When looking at Japan that is the only strong hold Sony has, and for good reason its where the company comes from, and your dealing with a completely different market brand there.

I believe the cost of the 360 is the same as the PS3 after you add the massive import tax the government of japan has.

I'm honestly surprised by the comment. In the first page atleast.

While I am "Sony-Fanboy #2" on these forums (Indigo's the president, incase you didn't know), I mostly agree with the people on the first page of this topic. The price is an issue, but then again you get what you pay for (I absolutely hate that saying though), but then again AGAIN people don't like daunting price tags at first.

The problem with exclusives debate is that people are always going to say "This and that only have 2 or 3 good exclusives." and then people say "Nuh uh! It has way more exclusives than that!" and then bring out a list wether or not if the list has good exclusives or not. It's all confusing.

But one thing I don't get, why are people comparing the sales to last year? Wouldn't you compare them to the month before? I mean, I get it, it's the holidays and all, but a monthly sale is a monthly sale.

When Nintendo tells 3rd party devs that "your doing it wrong" as far as making games there is not a problem with the system, the problem is who you are selling it too. They don't have long lasting market appeal. They need the 3rd party devs to rake in the cash. I believe Nintendo made 2.08 billion, in sales of its system. As where Microsoft broke about even, but when you look at the 3rd party sales on games, Microsoft's profits blow Nintendo out of the water.

The only real reason I'd get a PS3 is for the next Metal Gear and LittleBigPlanet- not because I hate the PS3/Sony, but because I'm just not that thrilled for it. Besides, I've heard there's a lot of problems with it playing PS2 games, and I just can't afford one of the things. x_x

The Wii was tiny and affordable, so I got it.

WRONG! In quite a few territories, the Ps3 has actually outsold the 360, despite being out for longer. Its only in Great Britain that it leads with anything resembing a signfigant margin.

Try to actually research these things next time.
Can you link me to numbers?

My mistake on the number. Also, I think that most 3rd parties are kind of doing the wii a disservice by putting loads of shovelware on it. They don't take the system seriously. Anyone can see that. Sure, companies like Sega(Madworld) and devs like Suda 51 have or will make good games on it, but the majority of 3rd parties have decided that it's the place that their bad game ideas go to die. Because of this, 3rd party sales on it are crap. Then again, it has way more 1st party games than either other company, and they all kick ass. (Wii music does not exist. I don't want to hear it. There is no such game as Wii music.)

So wii music, it blows.

But really I know a lot of people who have wii, but they are all old and use it for the wii fit, no lie.

I think the funniest line in there is "The problem for Sony isn't the recession, it's the PS3" followed by "and above all else, price. The cheapest PlayStation 3 is listed at $399 at GameStop". So, it isn't the recession affecting it, but for some reason people aren't picking it up because of its price tag. Weird logic there.
Well, I'm not sure it is that weird really, if you think about it. Even without the recession, the PS3 is still twice as much as the next console down.. I'd think twice about shelling out double for something which is not even definitively better. Price is not only a factor in a recession, you know?
