PS3 Owners Are Pissing Me Off

If Microsoft was smart, they'd offer a special deal right now.. trade in your PS3 and get $100 off of an Xbox elite or something.. imagine that, they'd be killing two birds with one stone.. they'd be increasing their owner base AND damaging their main competition.

Man, I guess I come from the old ruthless school of David Xanatos Business practices.

You talk about all these things you can do with a PS3 even with the network down, yet only cite two exclusive games that can be totally enjoyed offline.

Here is the thing though, sure of what I mentioned there are only 2 PS3 exclusives, however are you going to spend the money to buy yourself an Xbox 360 and a 360 copy of all the games that are for both systems? If you have a PS3, and lets say 5 games, and you want to switch over to a 360 with the exact same 5 games, you're still going to have to spend at least $200+ because you are not going to get back 100% of the money you spent on everything for your PS3...

Which leads to another thing I don't understand. Where are the people that are doing this getting the money? Or are they just willing to throw more debt onto their credit cards for the convenience of being able to play multiplayer? It really doesn't make much practical sense imo

Its not a question of PSN down, its the matter of Sony's security was lax enough so that their information could be stolen. Trust is the problem, not PSN being down.

do you know for certain that there security was law enough for this to happen and not just the fact that the hacker was good. I'm not going to defend either side of this i just want the real truth which we may never get. there are 3 sides to every story!!

Just saying, thats the problem. Information was stolen a huge scale and I wouldn't want to go back to a company that lost it.

So are you saying if the same thing happened with Microsoft you would sell your PC and get a Mac and sell your Xbox 360 and get a PS3? Don't mean to be nitpicking, but if your answer to my question is no, then in truth your concern in invalid imo =\

I don't think you understand how an OS works. Windows 7 doesn't have my credit card or personal info, it is stored in my hard drive, the OS is just the environment my PC functions in. My data is protected by firewalls and anti-viruses I chose to install. Your point still stands for the Xbox 360 tho.

I feel your thread's title is misleading, you are only pissed off at the PS3 owners who are too quick to jump ship when they can't play online.

I love my PS3 and I can't even play online (apartment's internet is too laggy for internet play) . This whole fiasco hasn't affected me much, but I can understand the people that are peeved. The only ones who piss me off are the ones who are suddenly experts on network security after reading a page off wikipedia and a blog, or the ones who say you get what you pay for.

Those ones that are trading their consoles solely based on the fact that they can't play online must be one of those rare breeds, the ones that medically need to "play teh blak opz" in order to stay alive/ maintain their Internet "credibility".

Wait, so let me get this straight. You're pissed off at several people you don't know, because they're doing something that doesn't affect you at all.

Okay, I can see how that's an important matter.

I do agree those people are insane, but gamers aren't known for their calm and balanced outlooks on life. If you want to waste a lot of money to switch consoles just so you don't have to go a month without playing, all I can say is, I'll meet you guys on Live.

I was going to contribute something meaningful to this forum, but then I realized ... I'm so sick of this. It's mainly because I own a PS3 that I click on every forum, article (etc.) related to Sony and the PSN, just to see what the developments are on this ordeal, and what people are saying. But JEEZ, I'm so tired of all of this: the Sony attacks, the Sony defenses, the Sony neutrals. I'm just ready for this to all blow over so we can all move on. This has become a way bigger deal than it needs to be.

If I have to say something worthwhile, I guess it's that I'm NOT going to trade in my PS3. I'll just wait patiently for things to go back to normal.

What could be a tipping point in the situation though; many customers may have been pushed over the edge and losing bank information would certainly do it; I have had mine lost too because I was playing dc and unsubbed in late feb. As a paying customer who decides not to stay and very aptly state that I WILL NEVER RETURN EVER as it was not my taste. I find it grossly negligent to even keep account of people who have destroyed characters and unsubbed etc etc. Sony in the last year have been a disappointing company not only for their moves but also in terms of there simply being an absence of re-playable exclusives which is a shame. I am not bias as I own all 3 but to a singular consumer this is certainly a problem I have seen 5 of my friends jump ship to 360 because of system in general but also the online.

There are SO many things you can do offline. I mean there are so many good new games you can play; LittleBigPlanet2.
Geeze, that is only naming some new releases. There is also older stuff like LittleBigPlanet

Someone seems to have forgotten that the big appeal of LittleBigPlanet is all the user created levels you can play. And playing them requires PSN to be up. Sure, you can play MM's levels, but they aren't going to last too long and you'll just be sitting there going "Damn I wish the network was up so I could play some community levels."

They have these things called jobs. Jobs provide these things called paychecks. Paychecks are money for you to spend on things, like games. Not a hard concept at all.

The answer to this is simple. Sony is in a time of crisis right now and there are people abandoning them. How would you feel if when you needed it people you thought you could depend on abandoned you? THAT is why I care >_>

Thank God I don't really care for online play that much. The only game it matters to me in, is Uncharted 2. I personally would be thrilled if they got rid of online player so developers could put actual effort into their games instead of selling the games mainly by their online options.

OT: Yeah it sucks that the PSN was hacked. Big deal, it happens to websites all the time, and yes as someone else in this thread stated "it could happen to XBL too" Which makes me wonder how the 360 fanboys would react. Would they go to big bad Sony? Or would they abandon ship entirely and give up on consoles and stick with PC gaming? In all honesty, they could fuck up worse than Sony and fans still wouldn't give up on Microsoft. Sigh, oh well. I'm sticking with my PS3.

In terms of PC, I'll tell you something that I had to work very hard to get over: PC gaming is terrifying.

I only recently got into it, having always been a console gamer, and although in truth, it's easy, it is still rather expensive and it APPEARED very complex.

I can understand how PC gaming can seem terrifying. I had a friend who voiced the same thoughts when he went from console to PC gaming. Basically he went from having the controls of a console controller to have a keyboard and mouse.....so many more buttons

Plus, you have manual installation and graphics tweaking, in addition to the fact that whenever you mention "What PC should I get?" people always say "Build your own", which is a daunting task in and of itself.

While I'm a loyal Sony fan and all. (i dislike the xbox 360 so much.)
If you havnt looked up the rootkit, you should, its stuff like that
that makes me dislike all major companies.
Though the PSN being down hasnt affected me at all, i play online games
on my PC, and use my ps3 to get the exclusive ps3 games that i like.

200 is not a lot of money unless your 15 or have a shitty job. I spend nearly that much every week anyways.
