If only Bobby Kotick could have a Grinch moment where his heart would go three sizes, plus two. Then maybe we would see him start to care a little bit about gamers, rather than just shareholders and profits.

Weapons manufacturer? I have never in my life heard a truer statement than this. Bravo to you Mr. Schafer.

Captain Obvious to the rescue!

Proof that everybody will worship a person appointed by another person they like for basically saying exactly the same thing as everybody else for the last 18 months.

Edit: Pop up ate half a sentence.

"Hopefully he'll go back to another industry scene," Schafer added. "He could go to an industry that makes more money ... something that suits his passions more. Weapons manufacturing?"
I lol'ed. Bwhahahaha.

Maybe Kotick could run a brothel?

I'd feel sorry for the hookers, but it'd fit his sleazy personality.

Or he could run a drug ring!
Knowing Kotick, he'd try to "take the fun out of sex".

Kotick is the games industry's Charles Montgomery Burns so much so that I won't be surprised when he blocks out the sun.

Few gamers are going to disagree with Schafer, as Kotick does have a tendency to alienate them with the comments he makes, but to suggest that Kotick hasn't built anything in the industry seems disingenuous, however, as he has been the Activision CEO for nearly twenty years.
What exactly has Kotick built? Apart from hatred towards himself and Blizz/Activision?

CEO just means you have to solve problems...Oh wait, he can't do that either. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/98779-Modern-Warfare-Lead-Dev-Leaves-Infinity-Ward]

At least Schafer has created something, rather than mooched off the profits of others.
Zing!

But good for Tim, hopefully more people will be willing to slam that asshole.

+10000 for Schafer.
I fixed what was clearly a mistake on your part. No need to thank me.

Kotick needs to go away for everyones good I think. The dude is bad news.

I feel Schaefer is right, but at the same time he's not the best person to say it, because he's a great artist but commercially, a failure. And Brutal Legend inparticular exemplified this.

So, this is the equivilant of a hemp soaked hippy shaking his fist at the man. It's irrelivant to the wider business world. Let Jerry Garcia critique music, and lets find a bloodsucking corporate parasite to say "wait a tic, Kotick is a dick!"

I'm starting to think that Schafer might be the sanest man in the games industry, which is ironic, given how manic the games he creates are.

I agree entirely with what he says. Kotick is a cancer.
Of the terminal variety, right? Also, he's been the CEO for around 20 years, so why does it feel like all this of Kotick being a cancer to the industry is relatively new?

The worst part of it, by far, is that Kotick feels the need to taunt his consumers. He basically reminds everyone that he's not concerned at all with the quality of a game, as long as it sells.
It's probably because he's smart enough to realise that most of his customers are idiots, and they'll buy anything because of a brand. If people started actually complaining and stopped buying the games, he'd turn it around in a flash, but that's not going to happen unless all the useless customers disappeared in a fiery explosion.

Isn't this the truth. When you see people spending money on clothes for avatars or dlc maps that are re-hashs from previous games, what else could one think?

Schafer will be remembered for generations to come. Ko(t/d)ick will not, or he might be, but for the wrong reasons.
"Dick" seems like the right way to remember him.

Bottom line is, did you cancel your subscription when Activision bought Blizzard?
Never had one to begin with
Moriarty70 said:
Bottom line is, do you refuse to buy any game published by Activision?
No and if they release a game I want I'll by it used so kotick doesn't get jack shit from me.

Have you even written to the company to tell him to stop being such a douche?
Good idea!
