I agree with othe people I mean seriously it's just a phrase just because some terrorist said it dosen't mean it's bad. I swear the media are like food deprived dogs they'll eat anything they can get their hands on (or paws :p)

An Islamic characters likes his God! Oh Lord the travesty! Think of the Children (tm)!!!
No one complained about Assassin's Creed, and those guys were pretty devout. Granted, they said God instead of Allah, but they spoke in English so it's OK.

Also, even if it is Allah Akbar, it's mispronounced.

It disgusts me that some people seem to think Islam and Terrorism are one and the same. It's even worse than the whole Communism being evil and equating to Totalitarianism and Fascism that you hear right wing extremists saying in the US.
I seriously don't know how some American "politicians" got through college. The whole Communist witch-hunt was awful.
Also, I remember one time where an Islamic priest was preaching to some children in a news report, and the reporter commented how he was an "Islamic extremist, training them to kill infidels". I asked my good Saudi friend to translate what he was saying to the children, and according to her, it's something along the lines of "Don't be afraid. God will protect you, no matter what happens".
Yeah, what an extremist.

Ahhh he says "Ah be" which actually means "dammit" and then something after it which I dunno but is not Allah or Akbar.

You ever notice the SAME group of people keep thinking there's these same words in everything?
Why don't we investigate them since they apparently know Islamic so well to recognise it in any babble from a baby or a bald psychotic Turk?
Well the Dept. of Homeland Security already has a list of Conservative groups they suspect to be domestic terrorists soooo... :p

True that, but I don't think Next Level Games is one of them, who made the game and are Canadian.
CANADIAN!?!?
HOLY SHIT CALL HOMELAND SECURITY, THEY FINALLY LAUNCHED AN OFFENSIVE WITH A VIDEOGAME AND SUBVERSIVE QUOTES FROM THE PEOPLE IN IT....who are each speaking their original languages....and none of whom is Muslim.
Hell the closest one to being Muslim-looking is Great Tiger and he's Indian. Really, if this guy wanted to blame someone, he could have picked the guy with the turban, CUZ DATS WUT ALL DEM RAGHEADS WEAR AMIRITE BOYS :D
I hate Bald Bull as much as the next guy, hell ALL of us do, but he's not a terrorist. He's a boxer. He hurts people with his fists and people pay him to do it.

All the characters in Punch-Out!! sound like they're saying something bad! When Great Tiger misses you with his ghost punch, it sounds like he says the n-word! Bald Bull speaks Turkish (unless Turkey doesn't have it's own language, I'm not necessarily well informed) not Arabic!

I just hope nobody tells Del Riley that there's also a boxing game on the PS3 and 360, in which the most prominent character is a black guy who calls himself Muhammed Ali.

Oh noes, the terrorists are retroactively attacking us through time!

Translation from Turkish - apparantly this is what he is really saying:

Al lan means Take this,
Ah be means Ouch!

So yeah, fucking media idiots get it wrong again.

Hold up a second... People are in a tiff over pro-religious phrases being uttered in a game where you can PUNCH the person saying them? Where's the problem? They need to expand this idea and make it great... Have Punch-Out characters that recite bible-belt hellfire and damnation as I rearrange their face. Give me a Punch-Out Chris Crocker to smack the shit out of while he screams "Leave Britney alone! I'm serious!". And of course, special guest appearance of RepubliTard poster boy Dick Cheney, who mumbles incoherently and spouts off conservative bullshit. Careful though, Cheney has a mean right hook, and is known for face shots.
This is a fucking fantastic idea.

No I was referring to the people who keep claiming there are islamic phrases in everything, not the game makers.

Also, thanks to the person who did some actual damn research and found out what Bald Bull actually was saying

According to a few sources, including those of Turkish origin, Bald Bull is saying "Al lan" which paraphrased means "take that!" as he punches. When he misses, he says "ah be" which means "darn it." "Ah be" is the so-called "Akbar" that people claim to hear. The "ck" sound is actually the uvular fricative common in the language. So.. he's saying "take this! *miss* DARNIT!" From what I understand, this is pretty much what every single character says in their own language.

Are you serious? You know what, i just might take the American flag, light it on fire, and strangle anyone that is even the UTMOST offended.

If this is true, then i want Jesus to be as secretive as Muhammad, i don't want to see his image ever the fuck again.

No more double standards, you say something, you live by it for once Americans.

Please note if you ask me my country status, i will say I'm a very very light-skinned Brazilian glass-blower

'IF' it's in there, it's a bloody stupid thing to do, because it'll just cause trouble and endless pages of pointless arguing on forums. *looks in mirror* *shuffles away*

I'd have to say there's probably not a place for it in the game.

Not because religion should not be tackled in a game, but because it's a serious, touchy subject, and should not be tackled in a silly, fun, light hearted game, as you'll just set people off.

When it comes to 'minorities' and 'PC' you'll either piss off the group you included, by portraying them badly, or you'll piss off the multitude of groups you left out. Can't win.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE HOW IS THAT A MOTHERFUCKING TERRORIST PHRASE?!

Sorry bout that. Just brings my blood to a boil when they mention that.

Anyway.

It's just ridiculous that AMERICA of all countries has to respond like that. America's the same fucking country that happens to stereotype all Muslims as a bunch of suicidal bomb strapped religious loonies.

And they wonder, Oh why do they hate us?

Woe to America for not seeing the problem earlier.

(buy teh haloz would like to re-assure everyone he doesn't hate America, but he feels that his religious faith has been bruised somewhat. That's right BTH is a muslim.)

See what he did? He made a prophet of Allah facepalm.
EDIT: I learned that tidbit from a church
I think they call jesus ISA (ISA HAH!) don`t they ?
Yes, we Muslims so refer to Jesus as Isa. It's the Arabic pronunciation of his name much like how Allah is the Arabic simplified term for God.

"Ahhh ! there a FPS games in iraq !"

"NOOOO ! the world is coming to a end because kids are learning what islam is !"

seriously if i had another head i would use both my hands to facepalm simultaneously .
Agreed....I have a brother in law in Pakistan who plays Call of Duty 4 on his PC and he's a genius to boot!

This is why Islam must be banned!

They cry and whine INFINITELY when someone so much as even says their prophet's name, doodle his character or misuses this phrase.

And let's not forget that they keep demanding rights for themselves while oppressing other people's rights.
What would you do or say if Jesus and/or Moses was depicted in an insulting manner?

Madshaw said:
Would he say the same thing to a turkish immam who was preaching an islamic sermon (i don't know if islam has sermons, im simply assuming) in an american mosque?
Sermons are in fact given in every Mosque world wide. Mostly on Friday's in the afternoon. The prayer called "Juma" is a shortened prayer that happens after the sermon is given. You have assumed correctly Madshaw...I thank you for that.

Let's say he's right.

So, obviously then, saying "God is great" in American/English wouldn't be allowed in any Islamic countries then.

And why stop there? "Oh God", "Gor blimey", "Christmas", all these terrible phrases should be banned.

One thing though. Has anyone ever heard a terrorist say "Allah Akbar" anywhere before?

I can't say I have, mainly because "Allahu Akbar" is the prayer. And I really doubt if anyone heard that on 9/11.
There's more to the 5 daily prayers than this beloved phrase and I agree with what you are saying overall.

I believe the goal of Nintendo Wii's version of Punch-Out! wanted to have the characters more realistic and having a Turkish Boxer say Allah u Akbar shouldn't offend people. The reason why the details of games are never mentioned when they are to be released to the public is because the creators, developers, and overall staff that put their time and dedication into making this game want to get paid for it and letting people know about phrases like this uttered by the characters would've hurt their sales because of ignorance and hate. These people want to pay their bills, feed their families, and make more games for us while not having to deal with all this hate for phrases added for realism of certain characters in games. I believe if this hate continues games may be phased from existence all together because of such hate and ignorance of what I simply see as adding realism to characters for the sake of overall gaming experience and hopes of not being verbally bashed due to religious phrases whatsoever.

This is just typical of someone to stir trouble for a newly released game claiming this is 9/11 all over again. Heres what I think of this over-used excuse to bash games:
