Given that the only mmo I play is Eve, I don't really know how to awnser that one...
Maybe I can put my Ballistics Control System on your Raven ;)

Um... I don't really care. Public mature roleplay is fine with me because I can ignore it.
You have room for my cargo container?

OT: Its fine with me as long as you keep it to yourself.
Yeah. Make sure you can anchor it to a belt.

what a man and a man dressed as a woman do in the privacy of their private chat is their business, all the more power to them

My opinion on this mostly boils down to: Blizzard can do with it whatever they like. If they wish to allow it, everyone else should stfu about it, just like if they wanted to ban it. It's their game, thus they should retain control over the limits on player action.
not that i don't agree with you, but i don't quite agree with your thought process. blizzard may have made the game, but it was the Users who payed for that game. they payed to buy and play it, and their money is what pays for the game to stay running. if the majority of the users disagree with something blizzard does, they should take that opinion to heart.

This is why the ESRB DOESN'T rate online play for most games, because regardless of the game's actual rating, if you're online with actual people anything can/should happen. I'm sure that kid has seen/heard worse watching daytime television than what he was 'subjected to' on WoW. Hurray for democracy!

I heard about this crackdown while on Wyrmrest Accord, last night, actually. It's not surprising, though and we really can't compare ERP in Goldshire inn on the moonguard server to ERP anywhere else on Moonguard and certainly not on any of the other RP servers(It is THAT bad).

Though, it's about time. There were stories of a pedophile guild or something along those lines harassing pre-made "underage" characters. Mind you, this is only gossip but it wouldn't surprise me, knowing that particular area. I could barely click on quest giving folk in the Lions Pride inn on my low level mage on Moonguard because of all the naked level one characters offering sexual favours for a copper.

I voted "Yes, between consenting adults" because most people know to move out of densely populated areas to perform whatever they will. Smaller romantic things are no problem, either, due to character maturation that kissing or holding hands can bring.

Those doing the crazier things are just trolls and should be treated as such(Mass ignore and spam-ban).

I'm kinda with the first two options. If your of sound mind and you don't rub it around in my face, then go ahead.

But I think the idea of a..."mature" (and you're right, that's a lame term) only shard is a great idea. Anything goes, non-patrolled, let folks let their freak flag fly...just warn the hell out of anyone before they join that they're in for an eyeful.
Yes. Susan, your always the last post before the reply box when we end up in the same thread. And you always say something that makes me want to say something.

They wanna do that? Go head, just have it in a private setting so the rest of the gaming community doesn't get subjected to...that.

I'm another vote for an "adults-only" shard where anything goes - although I can see Blizzard being hesitant to create such a zone (rocking the money boat, calling unwanted attention from the Liebermans of the world, etc.).

Can't they just make private and specified public (age)restricted locations in the game world where such behaviour can be carried out at will between consenting adults; just like it can in the real world?

I don't see the point in having and paying for an MMO account to engage in this stuff, with so much of the internet dedicated to catering to this kind of thing for free, but surely it's possible to implement it quite easily, and it would give those who for some reason can't play as a night elf without having to engage in sexual behaviour using it a place to go, rather than bother the public with their strange choice of dating sim game.

I say yes in private tells. I don't engage in that kind of roleplay, and I don't particularly care to have my own experiences intruded on with it.

I think it depends on the game and what it's rating is. Jackasses should always be dealt with swiftly and harshly, but if the game is clearly one marked for an older audience then Mods should be able to use that rating as a guideline. As already suggested, maybe there could even be special servers on offer for more mature players. Of course, when I say mature I don't mean I'd like to see giant cyber orgies in the town square, the world of something like Age Of Conan would lose much of it's mystique if it were whitewashed. Hyboria is a place full of intrigue, sex, love, lust and death and an MMO based in that world should rightfully be able to include all of it's traits.

Consenting adults who don't do it in public channels. That would be fine with me. I could care less what people do behind closed doors.

'Mature roleplay' sounds a lot more like sensible adult gaming than it does public sex-chat for the pre-teen and up. There's really nothing mature about it.

as long as it's in private messages, I don't care what people "do" to each other.

it seems pointless as hell to me, but I don't think I'm really in a position to tell people that their method of pursuing "meaningful relationships" is wrong.

Hacking each other to death with weapons and spells in an MMoRPG aren't considered violent role-playing?
