Renaissance, for sure. I can see it already, the Spanish Inquisition (which no one expects), coming to your home and taking you away to a dungeon where you have to use your Sims' social skills to get a more pleasant death sentence.

Ancient Egyptian times would be pretty sweet. Play as a Pharoah and have to mummify all your dead before you can bury them. Plus the Egyptians considered Hermaphrodites sacred...would be interesting to make one =p

Maybe in a dream, but then again, something like that would push it, seeing as people dream up freaky shit, it could be anything literally, things they wouldn't have even thought up, or nothing, nothing at all... That'd be boring; Dream Sims! You see nothing because your Sim only dreams once a blue moon.

Although I think the Roman era would be cool. I think that ancient Egypt would be awesome. To be able to build the pyramids, assist the Pharoahs....even better- mummify the bodies. Cool.
