the Great Depression for all your debt filled fun. like losing your house, trying to find a job in real time! the great experience of lining up for a food kitchen! and after everything its probably a look into the future!
I went with Roman Empire so I could set my Sims up for some historically accurate boy love.

Anything except those listed. It's nice ordering chinese takeout, pizza, burger and fries or pasta, but you don't want to eat them every damn night. Variety and whatnot.
In reality though, I don't think it would really matter. Aside from pure aesthetics the big draw to any of those places is that it's a different culture, and the Sims in my experience has never attempted anything other than the stereotypically vacuous culture of modern North America. I'll respect the attempt, but I have very low expectations of the result.

The industrial revolution! Work your Sims as there limbs get torn off in machines and they final die from the toxins in the air!
Although i hate the Sims, Im gonna go say the Roman time.
Picture if you want a normal day:
Wake up.
Sharpen sword.
Go to work.
Slaughter Barbarians.
Have a nice bloody ritual.
Come home.
Eat dinner.
Have a uncensored orgy.
Do it all again.
Now thats how you get the big crowd. If they made this game, even I would feel tempted to buy.
Only problem is: They are never gonna do it.
Oh, how we dream.
