VII. Yeah, that's right. I went with the obvious choice. I know its cool to hate popular things, but dammint, I loved VII, and I would love to play an updated version of it. How many games out there made that many people cry?

They should only remake the Final Fantasy's Hironobu Sakaguchi worked on, which is 1 to X-2. They were good for the most part and none of them made me want to snap the disc and gouge out the eyes of the development team like XII did. If I had to choose only 1 of them to be remade as a priority I'd choose VIII because it's under appreciated by those who played it when it was first released for the most part and maybe the next generation may like it as much as I did. I think people hated FFVIII because it required patience, experimentation and skill. I may be wrong but it seems plausable considering the story was pretty good and comabt was the best of the series outside of the draw system(which I think was the biggest comaplain and links towards the patience reason for hating it.) and it was easy to exploit if you were skilled enough.

I'd prefer to see no remakes, and just leave them as is, not that I probably buy a few if they came out *CoughVIandIXCough*

But the amount of people who are voting for VII is... More than a bit annoying, but that's probably because I didn't play all the way through when I started, when I was what, twelve and got bored with it, and I don't have the interest to now.

Vagrant Story! Yes, I know, it's not "technically" a Final Fantasy game, but since it does take place in the FF world of Ivalice from FFXII and Tactics, it does sort of count. I choose Vagrant Story of course since it had great gameplay.

Now, if I had to choose an actual Final Fantasy. It would be FFVII. I think we're still a console generation away from it, but I'd like to see it happen. I'd like to see a remake of FFVIII as well. In fact, if they were to make remakes of all the PSone FF games, including FFIX for the next generation console, whatever it maybe or named, I'd be one happy FF fan. :)

Am I the only one who thinks that Square should just retire Final Fantasy? With the exception of Dissidia and Crisis Core, Square has proved time and time again that they're just stumbling all over themselves with their flagship series.

They just just stop now and start working on something else, lest they really start dipping into Sonic Team territory.

Well, considering they've already remade the first 6 on the DS, I don't see why this is news. But I voted for VIII, just to be different.

If the have to remake one, just make sure it isn't one of the first 6, those have been remade enough times already.

While I enjoy other FFs more, like FF4/6, to this day FF8 - to me - is one of the best FFs when it comes to potential.

It seems like very time a GREAT idea was introduced it was hampered by poor or mediocre execution.

An epic story that felt like it was written or edited by that Twilight witch.
I mean, a 'love story' with neither main characters saying the actual words 'I love you'?
THEY HELL???

A great battle system that was as broken as bad as the original 360s.

Amazing OST that was limited by the hardware.

Ect-ect-ect.

FF4 may have 'felt' better and FF6 is clearly a masterpiece, but FF8 will always be that JRPG that could have been but never was.

No it is not shut out. More people just ask for VII to Square. In every single thread even tangetly related to JRPGs FF gets mentioned and so does FFVII. Then there are also the people who feel they need to mention everytime that VII wasn't their favourite and was crap. Yes we get it you either prefer FFVI or IX(those are the main two). Bringing it up time and time again makes it just as bad as people bringing up a FFVII remake time and time again.

Off point of quote: I understand this is a thread about FF remakes but it really ruins people's arguments when they feel the need to point out that their FF is superior. It is not. All FF games have their merit and are different. The only thing that even connects Final Fantasy games are recurring characters(eg Gilgamesh) or themes(Evil Empire Fantsy/Steampunk) and a variant of a semi turn based battle style. I know people are allowed to have their opinion and I have no problem with people wanting a remake other than FFVII but it pisses me off to no end when people feel the need to be edgy/cool/different and say their FF over VII and mention that VII was not the best or in way inferior. Your thoughts on that matter are already implied as you have chosen a different FF for a remake.
Oh... wow. Okay.

I really feel like you're projecting your feelings over other people's opinions onto me. Yes, there are rabid fanboys who'll defend "their" FFs over all others. I'm not. I'm a reasonable guy, once you get to know me. And you bring up good points about the FFs. It's tricky comparing the apples to oranges. I just think that THAT is a better thing to focus on rather than accusing me of trying to be cool by defending what I feel to be the better game. Come at me with well thought out arguments. You might even change my mind.

Oh, and full disclosure: the KoD stands for KingOfDoma (I originally registered under that name, and lost the ability to get into the account). Just so ya know.

Remake VI so I can get a chance to FREAKING PLAY IT. It's supposed to be one of the best and I don't happen to have a SNES, but I still want to play it. DO IT NOW.

Dirge of Cerberus because my girlfriend loved it and would go apeshit if I bought it for her as a surprise.

also, finally being able to actually DO all of the stuff in the cutscenes would be fun.

The correct answer of course is to remake Final Fantasy 22 since everybody loved... wait that game hasn't been made yet, sorry.

I never really liked FF that much but I'd like them to bring back a more old school pre-7 game if anything.

I'm saying 6, mostly because it could be neat.
But overall, none of the games really needs a remake.
The good ones were what they were. And quite a few of them are quite flawed, but get a pass because of technology-limits of their respective times. Yes, even 7. I say... let the classics be classics and play them for what they are.

I agree with a majority of the comments, no remakes. What they need to do is take all the great aspects of all the old games and combine them all into 1 awesome title. A fantasy-steampunk world, maybe a party/battle system like 12, a materia/job skill system, overpowered summons(the summons seem to have gotten weaker over the years), and the visuals of 13.

PS1 game Final Fantasy Anthology has FF5 and 6. Don't know how hard it would be to find, or what price, but SO worth it.
