I voted for 9, because it needs to be brought to the attention of more people. Nine was the last one with truly specialized characters(play ten enough and everyone can do everything), it had my favorite chocobo sidequest, the visual style could use a little work, and it cracked me up how Zidane(renamed Ero-san in my current playthrough) would turn his head to watch attractive women. The biggest thing I'd want to change is destroying Quina as violently as possible.

I voted for 8 but it could've gone several ways.

If we're talking faithful remakes, more accurately described as HD upgrades, my vote would be for 8 and 9. If we're talking complete reboots, my vote would be for 12 and 13 'cos the decline was well set in by that point.

Rather than have them remake stuff, in an ideal world I'd just go back in time and have them end the series with the release of 9.

Other: None. Stop remaking the old games over and over and stop making new ones. Let the series die already.

I'm kinda between the line where I would like to see a VII remake but yet at the same time I am satisfied with the original...but a VI remake would be cool as long as they only messed with making it with better graphics and leaving the storyline and battle system the same....

It appears "which FF should be remade?" translated into "which FF is your favorite?" /sigh

Anyway, Square should remake 2/4.
Nuklear Power should remake 1.

157 don't understand what plot is and only like Tifa's large breast or Sephiroth's 'long' sword (compensating for something).
Listen, I know I'll probably get a lot of hate mail for this, but please do understand; not only is Final Fantasy VI the best fantasy story, but if any of you actually played the game, you'd understand that you cared for each character. Each character had their own backstory and when something happened, you felt it. There is no need for them to remake Final Fantasy VII. It was a Playstation game. A PLAYSTATION. It had it's shot at 3d modeling, and Squaresoft (what the company was at the time) did what they could. Leave it at that. They Remade FFIV and many others that involved the class system; for the life of me, stop bitching and petitioning the CEO's to make, or for a better term re-make, VII.
Okay, I will admit, at my young age this was the first game I played and at that time I did enjoy it. Now looking back I realized that majority of the scenes are so linear, characters are one dimensional, and the only person that learns any lesson or develops (slighty), Cloud, barely talks throughout the whole game (or has a severe case of the JRPG protagonist mute).
I cried when Celes jumped off a cliff to try to commit suicide because everyone she knows has left, scattered around the world, and her 'father figure' Cid just died. Aries (Aerith) gets stabbed by THE ALREADY INTRODUCED BAD GUY, and you all think that was a poetic death? Didn't any of you care about Cait Sith? Probably not because majority of people I question this to never played that far ahead. Just played long enough to understand Sethiroth's mommy issues so they can write their erotic fan fiction. FYI, Kefka actual succeeded in what he wanted to do, which already makes him superior to Sethiroth.
The FFVII teaser was only that. It was just to show the potential of the PS3, but none of you knew that. Since then, the rumors have been going around that Square will release a re-make. Are they? I don't know. Will they? Probably, but only because the harassment inflicted by forums to put it in development. Since there is such a demand, I'm sure they will profit.
In my opinion, which is what only I can give (and if you are fully idiotic to complain this with me then you are a hypocrite), Final Fantasy VI gave a great story which developed along with, not only the main characters you control but the entire world. A game that was fully ahead of its time when expressing a plot with such detail, such feeling, and such romanticism in a world with a perfect blend of fantasy and steam punk. Final Fantasy VI is the game, if any, the new SquareEnix should make. But the question is, do they want to make their fans happy or make the company money?

the first one on NES, easily and by far my favorite.
They kiiinda did that already. I mean, not in the style of remaking it into a fully realized 3D world, but they updated the environments, sprites, and effects. It's on the DS, and ipod/iphone/ipad. As is Final Fantasy 2. They look like impressive FF6's without the depth of story. I have the two remakes for my ipod touch. :)

yeah... honestly i wish they'd re-release it on something other than a handheld!! like, if it were on PSN i'd be all over it. but i just don't do handhelds. i still have it on the original NES tho, so I can't really complain.

While I wouldn't mind a remake of some old final fantasy games, so long as the core mechanics of them stayed the same of course, I do NOT want Square Enix to do it.

Sorry...but lately, Square Enix has been hit and miss with more missing than hitting, and are really starting to piss me off. Final fantasy 13 was absolutely terrible, and Kingdom Hearts 1 was awesome and then KH2 came out with the quick-actions using the Triangle at certain points making this just ridonkulously easy.

I know exactly what you mean. I don't do handhelds either. The only reason why I have an iTouch is because the Mac store gave me one free when I bought my macbook pro for school. :) There's oodles of games out on the psp (Crisis Cooore, GRR) that just need to stop being a portable exclusive.

No more remakes, absolutely not. I think a large amount of the origional feel of a game is lost with a remake along with some source material. Plus, why play trough 9999 random encounters again except with better graphics?

How about "none"? Can we have a completely original and creative game from them for once, please? Do we seriously need a slightly shinier version of games most of us have already played before? What is the point, honestly? As far as I'm concerned, for me the last good Final Fantasy was 6, and I never have nor do I intend to play a remake of that.
Makes good point but if you think about it there is no such thing as an original concept nowadays remakes is all that its coming to really

I really enjoy IX, it's one of my most favourite games of all time and I'd love for the in game graphics to look as good as the cinematics, which for the PS1 were AMAZING.
