Depends on if being good makes me feel good. In some games, healing strangers on the street makes you feel like you're actually doing good deeds (inFAMOUS), but in others, it feels like you're just XP-grinding (Okami). I wish you could be evil in Okami. I would continually spawn the sun so that the people would never get any sleep and become aggravated.

Also, if there are other people around, I become cartoonishly evil for laughs. I once played Morrowind with a friend, and here's how events unfurled: A creepy elf thing was telling me stuff I couldn't understand because I wasn't wearing my headphones, and then I was supposed to go to the duke or something. On the way, I proceeded to stab every guard I met, and steal everything I could find. I even tried to steal some chairs, though the game wouldn't let me. I was able to steal a few cups and a candlestick. Then when I got to the duke's room he had a sword and killed me to death for some reason. Was it something I said? Or stole? Or stabbed?

Both.
Sometimes I'll save an orphanage, sometimes I'll set it on fire.
Sometimes, I'll set it on fire and then save it to reap the rewards.
Depends on my whims.

I'm usually the good guy. It just fits the way I would normally act.

I tend to play through a game multiple times if that choice arises, first as the good guy, then as the bad'un. I do it for the differences, not because I am drawn to either.

It could be my upbringing, but I just can't stand being evil. I know it's a video game, but I'm compelled to be the Paladin of the Weak,Crusader of the Just,Advocate of the Meek. If I do anything that isn't borderline Chaotic Good (defined as "screw the rules and regulations,I'm doing good things!"). I once tried being evl in Fable II. Deleted the file. I once tried being evil in Fallout 3. Caved and became a nice guy. In Jedi Knight:Dark Forces II,I never kill any innocents, even though the Dark Force Powers are more powerful than the Light ones. I revile the Dark Side of gaming that much.

Depends, some times I like to save the world even though it probably doesn't deserve it, as long as I get the cute girl in the end it's all worth it :3

I'd much rather be some baby eating, village burning, man-slaughter, pedophile that sacrifices the beautiful women just to piss off the heroes, kinda a villain. You know, pretty standard stuff.

Did I mention I kill your religious figures as a villain as well? Yeah, I'm just trying to piss off everyone in the world :p

I usually do what I would do in that situation, so I usually end up playing the good guy.

My brother and I had a system so we get to see both ways, but only play it once. I play one side, he plays the other but we only play important stuff while the other is there. To determine who does what, we decide what appeals the most, and if we disagree, we do something to decide it. It's surprisingly fun and effective, especially when you can see the alternitive of a choice you made just 10 minutes ago and see the difference.

Of course, it's impossible to do now that he moved out. *sighs* those were the days...

OT: Using siad system, I tend to be the good guy, but every now and then, I play the evil route just to mix things up. Now I just play through twice, ususally doing the first, or 'real' playthough as the hero. I'm a big comic geek, and love superheroes or heroic people without powers. Whne there's power involved, I might occasionaly go evil, but if not, I tend to think evil guys with guns just tend to be lame.

For me, it all depends on the other characters in the game. If I end up really liking them then I'll be good, if I don't, I'll be bad. However, if I'm indifferent to them then I'll just do whatever I want and see how I end up (usually slightly bad).

It depends.
In games like, Fallout 3, my main mission is to kill anything that walks.
But in games like, Star Wars: Force Unleashed, I tend to be th good guy.

I usually play as the good guy first and then I'll switch over after I've beaten the game once.
I usually do this on RPG games.

I usually run the Paragon route. Just makes things easier to have everybody like you and give you discounts than it is to be the jerk and have to fight your ass off at every turn. The sad thing is, you aren't even allowed to act out ONCE while being the token nice guy... case in point: I was playing KOTOR2 and nearly had the light side meter completely filled. I was trying to bypass some guard on a set of steps, and I went to brush him out of the way and "accidently" cut him down with a light saber. That one mistake totally screwed me from ever hitting the top end of the bar until nearly the end of the game, which completely blew butt. So if I run across a character in a game that I don't really like, I catch him on the second play-through when the nice guy act goes out the window. Digital karma at work!

Whichever is more profitable, I suppose. Usually the bad guy route. Because killing someone in cold blood and taking their money apparently has no ramifications in games.

Good guy, because...because I just can't help it. Morally it would be difficult, to say I'm a good guy. I get mad over the littlest unjust thing, so I often overdo it and become like an antihero.
