"Duke Nukem Forever will come out before Episode 3"

I'm not sure if anyone has realized that but there is something VERY WRONG with that statement

As much as I think that Duke himself is a bit of a tool, I might actually play this. If it comes out.

I hope not. I like the running joke.

Seriously I don't expect much even if it does come out. It was always a mediocre FPS that sold on pushing the envelope with nudity and swearing. Afer years of God of Wars and Grand Theft Autos, Duke won't sell on that anymore.

I doubt it would matter if it was released, they missed their first date 20 years ago and now, everyone who cared about Duke Nukem has either moved on or has just stopped gaming all together. Not to mention that unless this game is the next coming of Jesus Christ, people will be dogging 3-D realms about the crazy production time.

THe idea of Duke Nukem forever has been fucked around with beyond the pint of caring. Many brilliant FPS's have come out in the time since Duke Nukem foreever was first announced.

Whoever is gonna make Duke Nukem Forever this time - No one cares.

I stopped caring sometime around 2005. At this point it's just another shooter to me.

OT: Meh, I think we all stopped caring around we got us Half-Life 2, it'll just be another character that has long since died from our memory..

Is this franchise even relevant any more? Even to the people who were originally interested? Like a lot of people have said, culture's moved on since then. We might get a retro kick out of it, but... really, I'm sick to death of these "will they or won't they?" Duke Nukem stories. They're not even funny any more. Either release it, or drive a stake through the bloody thing's heart so we can all move on.

I'd say no, but it'd be cool if I was proved wrong.
The release of Duke Nukem Forever would be a monumental history event; up there with the invention of the wheel, the assassination of JFK, the loss of The Vietnam War, and the eventual (maybe) process of Justin Bieber hitting puberty.

The game to be released under the moniker Duke Nukem Forever is destined to falter, unfortunately. Those who cared about the game probably peaked in their interest right about the time they say casino marquees, helicopters and tentacles. Ever since then, it has been a background whisper, legacy vaporware.

It will carry with it a stigma no matter what it happens to be in its final incarnation. An X-com style alien whack-a-mole? An MMOFPS? Most likely none of these, but as a shooter, it enters a saturated market into the hands of gamers who do not know the Duke as his fans once did.

And those who still remember him?

They merely shake their heads in passing. And those who plan to (hopefully) purchase his over-decade-long opus will play it in rooms with heavy drapes and background noise - to smother the shame.

TO THE DEV TEAM:

It's a bad sign when over half the local gaming population doesn't care about the most hyped game of all time. Consider being more expedient in the future.

Have a nice day.

That's already happened... I watched his performance at the Juno Awards... it was hilarious.
