I didn't quit Facebook simply because I don't really use Facebook. I maintain a presence there, since it's one of the places people gather these days. Also, it serves as a photo sharing platform for me and my friends. I don't play games on it, I don't look people up, I don't chat. I just log in every 2-3 days to see if I have any messages...

I had absolutely no idea.

But how does having a day for that supposed to get people to quit?

If you post personal information on the internet, accept that it is out there forever.

If you post illicit personal information on the internet, accept that your bosses, friends, family, coworkers, boyfriends, girlfriends, and anyone else who could want to find it would be able to find it.

If you don't want prospective employers to find out about your habit of drinking copious amounts of alcohol and doing lines of cocaine off of the ass of a transsexual hooker, either don't do it, or don't let pictures be taken, or don't let them be put on the internet, or remove the tags from said photographs.

Otherwise, it's your own damned fault.

But, this whole "oh, noes, now everyone can see my information" is all based on the kind of self-important "the world revolves around me" asshattery of my generation. No one cares about reading whatever enlightened posts you put, no one cares about what movies or games you like (except, I guess, advertisers, but they can get that information from Google, too). Sure, some people do care about the illegal, illicit, or immature things you do, and that can adversely impact your life. But do you want to know a simple solution:

don't do things you wouldn't want your boss, friends, family, and children to see

I've got Sky News on right now and they're going to be talking about this soon, it's the segment where they talk about the top news stories making the rounds on the web. Seriously though, did anyone actually expect the campaign to make a dent at all, even if it had been advertised and recieved a lot of support? Even if it had 5 million people committed to the event, that would only be 1% of the regular users, and barely any user group or campaign on Facebook that I've sen has had more than two or three million members...

If only they had created a facebook group for it...

Ah well alls well that ends well... wait did this end well? Since no one knows when it started (as pointed out in the origional post) did it end? When does it end (if it started?)?

Bollocks too this nonsence I'm going onto facebook because its the only way I can keep in contact with my high school friends.

Yeah, same here. I never bothered with those social networking sites ever since I heard bad stuff about that kind of thing. They can see all the info you post? Screw that, leave me out of it.

I quit Facebook before it was cool.

Now really, I can see the appeal of the website, but I hate all those little games and things that inevitably clog up my notifications box. I'd rather just go visit my friends, and I only talk to my relatives on holidays anyway.

Already quit. Simple. Special day not required, I hate the gossiping nature of it. "These guys are having a party that you're not invited to! Shouldn't you have more friends? Sell us your souls on these pointless games!"
Fuck you, Facebook.

I certainly never heard about Quit Facebook Day. Not that I need an excuse; I have a much better one in that I already quit Facebook 3 years ago.

In all fairness, anyone who dislikes Facebook enough to quit either never joined or has already quit. I didn't expect much to come of this.
