Well I say its just an outlet for some people.
like say if your really angry and you want to play a fighting game to relive said stress.
I personally think its descusting but atleast there raping virtual people... well I wonder what would happen if this was in Doomsday Arcade.

Why, Japan? Why? You're already a titan when it comes to the videogame industry, so why must you tarnish your reputation with acts such as this?

Oddly nobody bothers to read the point that "rape" fantasies are healthy and something both genders are actually into. It's just when people confuse fantasy and reality that it becomes a problem.
Let me be honest, being taken forcibly by an attactive member of your sexual orientation is like the point of a huge percentage of porno fiction out there. Especially the stuff directed AT women, it's just that rather than porn they refer to it as "romance" and instead of
putting a half naked girl on the cover, they put Fabio with his shirt open and a giant bulge in his pants on the cover. The words might be more flowery in places, but it amounts to the same stuff.

One of the problems with women and the whole idea of "feminism" is that women are probably like 10x more perverted than guys at their worst. The only differance being that they aren't as overt about it unless you know where to look. The feminist movement taking the general attitude (when you get down to it) that men are too immature to handle erotic fantasy, but it's okay for women (this however leads into a whole differant area of discussion).
As I've mentioned in other threads, despite the inclusion of the word "rape" typically these games involve the protaganists fighting in some kind of tournament where part of the reward is to humniliate/sexually enjoy/whatever the loser of the matches. No matter how their personalities might seem otherwise, all of the characters are sadistic pervs who want to be "on top" but secretly don't mind being on the receiving end. Realisitc? Heck no, but then again it's not supposed to be.
So basically, I'm glad this turned out to be a rumor, and I hope Japan takes a hard line against any kind of censorship. I also hope they also start fighting more to bring translated, but otherwise uncensored works to the US.
Truthfully if you can't tell fantasy from reality you have issues that go well beyond anything your going to find in a video game. Also if the idea of "Rapelay" bothers you, go track down some old "Gor" novels (not the most hardcore thing out there, but after the initial trilogy you'll understand what I mean). Gor having spawned it's own RL BDSM subculture, look up "Gorean" sometime.
Then as I've mentioned before, people have ultimatly failed to ban books/stories by guys like The Marquis Desade, and honestly while not the worst guy out there, he's whole levels of sick beyond anything your likely to find in erotic video games, including horror/rape hentai.

That is the point Japan doesn't even have a real organization for women who have been violently assaulted to. In fact Japan until recently didn't even take crimes against women seriously until pressure from the UN in the 90's. To sit there and honestly take Japan's violence stats seriously shows naivety when it is a nation that has shown little regard to women and considers having 40 or so Clinics for women of violent assault to be satisfactory. You tell me how you can tout the rape stats of Japan as fact when even the Gov't of Japan admits their countermeasures to violence against women is not satisfactory?wolfy098 said:
Whilst you can argue that from the reported rapes, do bare in mind that the Japanese culture is hugely different and it seems likely to me that the 'rape games' have little to do with the trend for low reported rapes in their country. A more likely scenario for me is a combination of increased shame, increased objectivation of women making them more submissive, and a general attitude of 'its not rape'.
