i cant say that i have actually looked this up but im pretty sure ACTUAL rape is frowned upon in Japan.Optimus Prime said:Sigh, why doesn't Japan just ban rape FULLSTOP!
OK, leaving alone the fact that an argument could be made that bizarre and perverted might be related in some way, why did you quote me?Gunndam64 said:joystickjunki3 said:Good. An outright ban wouldn't solve anything.
How do we answer that cry for help at the end, though?the japanese aren't bizarre there perverts the sell womans pantys in vending machinesDanzorz said:.....

Seriously? Not banning a rape game? WTF.
Japan is bizarre.
You know possibly people who have been raped?IamSARAhearMYgrr said:who the hell cares?
You don't even know what free speech means.Tenmar said:You cannot be a proponent of free speech if you want things that you don't like banned especially if the content isn't in the country you live in or affects you.
First off, their is no actual research that proves the link between rape games and Japans low rape rate. Japans low rape rate could have more to do with their police force lacking resources and as a result more crimes go unreported.wolfy098 said:sorry to say this but Japan has one of the lowest amount of rapes in any country because of these games...Optimus Prime said:Sigh, why doesn't Japan just ban rape FULLSTOP!
American rapists rape people
Japanese rapists go out of their way not to and play rape games
we call this MORALS
yes you're explaining that humanity is divided and computers can't solve this with a computerInternet Kraken said:First off, their is no actual research that proves the link between rape games and Japans low rape rate. Secondly, the idea that a rape game prevents rape is flawed. Someone who wants to rape someone would not be satisfied by a video game. Since everyone links sex to violence, I will do the same to prove my point. If rape games prevented rape, then murder games would prevent murder. By this logic, games like Postal stop people from actually going out and killing people. A murder doesn't want to kill pixels, they want to kill humans. The same goes for a rapist.
Video games neither prevent nor cause crimes. Do you really think deep psychological issues can be cured by a computer program?
*WIN*Therumancer said:Oddly nobody bothers to read the point that "rape" fantasies are healthy and something both genders are actually into. It's just when people confuse fantasy and reality that it becomes a problem.
Let me be honest, being taken forcibly by an attactive member of your sexual orientation is like the point of a huge percentage of porno fiction out there. Especially the stuff directed AT women, it's just that rather than porn they refer to it as "romance" and instead of
putting a half naked girl on the cover, they put Fabio with his shirt open and a giant bulge in his pants on the cover. The words might be more flowery in places, but it amounts to the same stuff.
"Oh my god, this girl has been kidnapped by pirate Fabio, tied to the mast, and molested by him, secretly loving every second. Gogo girl, I wish I could be her... "
One of the problems with women and the whole idea of "feminism" is that women are probably like 10x more perverted than guys at their worst. The only differance being that they aren't as overt about it unless you know where to look. The feminist movement taking the general attitude (when you get down to it) that men are too immature to handle erotic fantasy, but it's okay for women (this however leads into a whole differant area of discussion).
As I've mentioned in other threads, despite the inclusion of the word "rape" typically these games involve the protaganists fighting in some kind of tournament where part of the reward is to humniliate/sexually enjoy/whatever the loser of the matches. No matter how their personalities might seem otherwise, all of the characters are sadistic pervs who want to be "on top" but secretly don't mind being on the receiving end. Realisitc? Heck no, but then again it's not supposed to be.
So basically, I'm glad this turned out to be a rumor, and I hope Japan takes a hard line against any kind of censorship. I also hope they also start fighting more to bring translated, but otherwise uncensored works to the US.
Truthfully if you can't tell fantasy from reality you have issues that go well beyond anything your going to find in a video game. Also if the idea of "Rapelay" bothers you, go track down some old "Gor" novels (not the most hardcore thing out there, but after the initial trilogy you'll understand what I mean). Gor having spawned it's own RL BDSM subculture, look up "Gorean" sometime.
Then as I've mentioned before, people have ultimatly failed to ban books/stories by guys like The Marquis Desade, and honestly while not the worst guy out there, he's whole levels of sick beyond anything your likely to find in erotic video games, including horror/rape hentai.

I did not insert my opinion on rape games in that post. All I said was that a rape game would not prevent the actual crime of rape.
If you disagree with this then explain why. I really don't see why you responded in such a rude manner.

ACTUALLY
I was commenting on your quote
"Do you really think deep psychological issues can be cured by a computer program?"
so yes YOU can cure psycological problems with computer programs
