Now see, if he had submitted these stories for publication as FICTION he would have had no problems--hell, he probably would have made a killing, no pun intended . . . I just don't understand why he would destroy such a golden opportunity by trying to claim the stories as his own.

You mean a book written by Lieutenant Colonel Wolfgang Hammersmith turned out to be bullshit?

Well.
I never.

I remember posting in the original thread on this guy and being a little disconcerted that pretty much everyone in that thread unanimously believed him. I was tempted to bring it up again when I saw the thread at PS, but didn't, and am now content that everything worked itself out.

Feels good man.

I should have realised this when I got to the part in the book where the S.A.S went back in time and shot all the dinosaurs, causing the real extinction...

[small]Not really, but that would be a fucking awesome book...[/small]
Hey man, don't talk about stuff like that. Dinosaurs have been scientifically proven to be commmunist. You have no idea what those soldiers went through.

I would have guessed this guy was fake. I would have seen him in the military when I worked in the anti Ninja delta squad

This message has just been classified.
Hey man, You worked on the anti delta ninja squad, no kidding, I was one of the original Ultra Mecha Eagle Destroyers, the names Flint Ironstag, did you know Buck Plankchest?
I'm afraid not.

But I did now Bob bombershell, Tom tankkiller, and Harry smith.

Not sure why, but Harry never seemed to fit in with the rest of us.

Who the fuck actually believed this guy in the first place? This isn't a believable war story, this is bad military fan fiction.
To be fair, they do that to you in basic, when you go down in a trench to move targets around on the range.

Obviously.

He also stole the plot point from Kick Ass with Big Daddy firing live rounds at a bullet-vested Hit Girl to get her used to live fire from criminals she would be.. *hems*.. viciously murdering. Seriously.

His name is Wolfgang Hammersmith. That screams fake to me. He needed a badass name for his badass story.

Just watch the Tier 1 interviews for Medal of Honor. First off, they can't reveal their ids, second they can't talk about what they did to anyone. Even their families just know they are in the military (maybe) and not much else.

The red flag was this; "Hammersmith's life was hardcore military from the get-go: his father fired live rounds at him when he was eight years old "to desensitize him" and then turned him over to a United States Marine Corps program when he was 12."

Please.
That's not training, that is ridiculous child abuse, and the marines don't accept fucking 12 year olds lol, how the hell did he get away with it for this long?
He told his story to other 12 year olds.

I know at least one person who ran real black ops missions at one point. Rule #1 is that you don't ask him about his experiences - he tells you if he feels like it. You do not ask him, and he certainly would NEVER write them down. Yeah, I kind of saw this coming a mile away.

Oh noes, somebody lied in order to make gobs and gobs of money. Quick, stop the presses! Pfft, there are very few badass war stories and even those the History Channel has to make attractive to the public by filling their reenactments with special effects and dramatic sound tracks. (really anybody trying to educate the public about the horrors of war really)

I just automatically assume every book by a badass with numerous war stories is fiction until proven otherwise.

I'm not saying it actually happened, just that the dad was introducing his son to the sound a bullet makes when it goes past, rather than hunting him for sport. The former being something a gun-happy kid in an excessively martial family would no doubt be interested in.

I wish I could get someone to take shots at me (while hiding behind a berm, of course). It would help with the sound modding.

Anyways, I find stories of crazy parents more believable than CoD-style real-life Black Ops.

Maybe he is like so many other liars out there, some 14 year old trying to sound tough by making up stories about how he is a 30 year old black belt world master who can dodge bullets and was promoted to general of a super secret black ops unit by the time he was 18.

Oh nuts, that means I can't sell my memoirs about my interstellar travels without having to defend my self.
