Try Primeval or Castle. Both I love immensely!

Primeval is about anomalies in time in which prehistoric-futuristic come to the present and people must try and control/contain them. Hangs in the Sci-Fi genre and very good series.

Castle is about a writer who partners with a female detective to get inspiration for his books.
Did I mention Castle is

I should also mention Band of Brothers, sad and moving mini-series about Easy Company of the 101st Airbourne in WW2.

How is it that no one has mentioned Sons of Anarchy yet?! It is one of my alltime favorite shows and has some of the best writing I've seen. Watch it Now!

Batman: The Animated Series.

...

What?! Don't look at me like that, it's still the best version of the Batman mythos in my humble opinion.

My brother looked at that post and completely agreed.

I'll sound like a Britainophile but Monty Python's Flying Circus, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Blackadder, Fawlty Towers and Red Dwarf.

A quick search in these pages didn't have any of these two:

Merlin.
A fun story with a nice twist on standart Arthurian lore. The writing is pretty good, the cgi is terrible, but the actors are what makes the series good. They do a great job and really turn it in a fun tv show. They just reached the ending of Season3 and Season4 is in the works now.
Just give it a check.

Sherlock
I'm a big detective fan. Mostly Poirot, Morse, Lewis etc. All very slow paced stories. But Sherlock is insanely fast paced and insanely original for it's genre. It tries something new and it shows, it's a very fun and exciting series to watch. So even if you don't love the genre, give it a shot. Loads of people I recommended it to loved it.

Spin City (you go from Michael J. Fox to Charlie Sheen. Not a bad step down).
Golden Years
Kingdom Hospital

Um... the Stand is pretty good, but its four two hour movies, so be prepared to watch on a day where you have nothing to do.

And Dharma and Greg.

ALL 8 SEASONS OF 24! GO DO IT NOW!!!
A season of 24 go's for about 18 hours *dissapointment face*
it will still take you around 7 days to complete. Plus the other 15 minutes is commercial time. So it feels like it's in real time on the t.v. But not so much on a computer. Still it's worth all those 7 days.
I guess if you took a 15 minute break between every episode it would take 24 hours(ish) i guess :D
