Remove one game from existence

And when I say "existence", I mean it. It will never have existed. That's the only rule. It can't be replaced or redone. It never existed, and it never will. So if it's a sequel in a series, you are leaving that series with an incomplete story. It will never be completed. If it's been used as inspiration or even for its engine by other future games, those games as you know them will also cease to exist.

Whether it's due to all the suffering you went through playing it or the damage you feel it has done to the gaming industry, somehow this game's removal will do more good in your mind.

Think hard, you're changing history here.

Just one? Aww.

Call of Duty 4. I appreciate that it was a good game, and the multiplayer was a bit refreshing and aesthetically pleasing but IMO it ruined online multiplayer for this generation. Everyone seems obsessed with leader boards and trick shots.

Edit: I am well aware that CS had a similar problem but it was only really the fan boys that played like that anyway, CoD is a completely different animal

Are you Mephisto or something? Anyway. . . . . . . . . . .I can't think of anything no game has ruined my life, and I can't say that the world is better without any game.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm - because the redesign of the 1-60 world ruined the levelling experience for me.

Ultra-linear, overly scripted, ludicrously easy, far too quick... it's an act of utter vandalism and has left me with an immediate sense of dread whenever a dev team announce they are redoing or 'streamlining' older content.

Half Life 3. Oooooh snap!

Not really. I guess my real pick would have to be something completely unimaginative. CoD 4. If that weren't around this console generation wouldn't be plagued by dull brown uninspired machismo gun porn crap that we see all the time that's flooding the market, just trying to steal CoD's success. Yeah something else would probably take it's place, but at least there's a good chance it might be something a bit more colourful or fantastical.

Call of duty 4 and CS, It was very good(COD 4) but it ruined the multiplayer FPS generation :( and also caused brown shooters to be popular which discourages innovation.

Inb4 Mass Effect 3

OT: Pretty much the game that made brown linear shooters popular. No idea what it is but that one.
Gears of War? Yeah, I'd take that as well. Or else Hydrophobia; that was just all bad all the time.

I'm going to be 'that guy' and say nothing. Removing a game from existence just because I didn't like it is incredibly selfish. I'm sure there are plenty of people who enjoyed whatever game it is that you want to remove, you'd be stealing that from them too.

..that said, I do have to wonder what this past year would have been like without all the Mass Effect 3 threads.

Theres alot of games out there that i don't like or i even hate them as a series, for example Gears of war, Final Fantasy, Call Of Duty to name a few.

But i can live in peace with them, i personally do not enjoy those games but alot of people do, i am not forced to play or enjoy those games and in turn others are not forced to enjoy and play games in which i like and they do not.

I think it would be stupid to want to get rid of a game personally, for any reason, it does not matter if its the worst game YOU have ever played, there are people out there that enjoy that game and the game was made for people like them and not people like you.

All that being said i choose none, i think its a very childish and stupid thing to even discuss, don't get me wrong im not saying anybody here is personally stupid im just saying the topic is (Know the difference, no flaming or getting mad).

And let's talk about that for a minute, lets say you could choose a game to poof out of existence, why? why deny people the fun it brings to them.

Gears of War. Sorry Gears 1 you were a pretty okay game, but if I take you out the equation then Gears 2 & 3 will have never happened. And I will have never have had that week long Migraine.

Unreal
the engine was developed for this game and since has become one of the best and most popular engines for video game developers, I'd just like to imagine a world without it. What would've been done?> How many great games that use the engine wouldn't exist as they do today?

Silent Hill Homecoming. Just get rid of it! Or Silent Hill Origins. I'm not too picky, just get rid of one of those. They had their moments and the boss fights in Homecoming were quite good but overall it felt too damn boring.

ET for the Atari 2600.

Just because of its importance in the industries crash in 1983... sometimes I wonder what would have happened if that game was never made...

Like would Atari still be making consoles? Probably not, but its interesting to ponder haha.

I would pick a game that gave us a bad reputation as gamers for no good reason or Duke Nukem Forever so that it would not be such a disappointment to anyone that thought it would be good. Also for a bonus Yahtzee joke review of it would be the only one.

I would've said nothing, but I'm feeling bitter about the success Rovio has gained by taking old ideas and slapping funny visuals on them, so Angry Birds it is.

I'd remove one of the big hits which made a crapload of money - I don't know, Battlefield 3 maybe? GTA IV? - and then release the exact same game under my name. Of course, I'd copy all the assets and source code first. Even considering all the cash that was spent on marketing, I'd still be a happy little mouse.

EDIT: Wait, no! World of Warcraft! On the other hand, I'd still have to take care of all the logistical issues of running an MMO.

EDIT 2: With GTA IV or WoW, it would also be an interesting experiment. Would those games have sold as well and been as highly regarded if they didn't have famous dev studios behind them?

Sonic 06. Do I even have to get into why?

COD4 may have popularized boring shooters, but if it want COD, developers would have latched onto something else.
