No PS3? No PC?

FAIL!

The right clearly fears those who can easily replace their hard drives with any third party component!

I can't really blame the right, they are clearly backed into a corner and are flailing though I wish they didn't use such cheap tactics. I can also see why they are going for video games as in the same time period that Avatar made $2 Billion at the box office, Modern Warfare 2 made a similar amount in console sales and they couldn't be more different IPs.

And sorry but "Xtreme" anything is SOOOOO 2002! It's a new decade, get with the program.

Damn republicans, going all hypocritical if they think it'll net them some young, impressionable minions...then again, these days I wouldn't be surprised if the democrats were to try something similar. American politics are so fucked right now.

You know, i think this is somehow going to lead to a republican accidentaly picking up some interesting new slangs.

Instead of YOU LIE, it's going to be YOU NOOB!

Wait wait wait, so the same people who basically say "games are the devil" are saying their "down" with games?

Maybe if they didn't have FOX news, who pretty much bashes video games every chance they get, they would have a better shot at appealing to gamers.

Republicans are making the big mistake of thinking that people that play video games are dumb. THis will not win any one with a brain over.

republicans (at least those that are really conservative), aren't the enemies of gamers. Honestly, I don't think this would be any less hilarious if the democrats were doing this although actually, if you know about what democratic liberals think of gaming, then you'd think it would be even more itonic then it is with republicans.

So... wait a minute... the same political party that has been demonizing video games every time there's a slow news week... is trying to use video games to attract younger people in... can anyone say "double-think"?

I can feel my rage slowly rising, so I'll just make one quick comment:

This is the most amazingly pitiful use of hypocriticism I have seen in a damn long time. Politicians are the least honest people in the world (next to lawyers), and this helps prove it.

Has anyone told Atkinson that videogames'd make him more popular? No? Shame.

I really hope the Republicans didn't use the phrase "luring" when they thought of this thing.
Bet they did.

ANY political party using games to push their agenda is wrong.

I'm not a republican or a democrat (I'm canadian, so I'm not a liberal or a conservative, or an NDP), but it's not just the fact that it's the stuffy republicans (which as a group generally are against big government nanny state projects, like the ones that ban video games for being evil).

Politicians using games to attract kids seems to me like an ugly troll wearing a teddy bear suit saying "HUG ME! I'M CUDDLES MCBEAR! YOUR HAPPY SNUGGLE FUN FRIEND"

just.. creepy.

Too late. I'm already registered Republican, and am a lifelong gamer, so this doesn't affect me much.

Strangely enough though, I think I'm more anarchist than Republican...

Well I guess this sort of shit is to be expected. Everyone wants to get the youngest voters on board, but they haven't a clue how to "talk down" to our level. So how about a half-assed attempt to communicate to us through our preferred artistic mediums? No don't. Please don't. There is no way you'll be able to impress them that way. It is the kind of behaviour I'd expect from any party - politicians, partisans, and even religious groups will often pull this kind of move to drum up members. They never work.

Nice to see the politicians doing something other than bashing video games.

Perhaps they're finally learning?

No. What? No.

Republicans hold no stance on the issue. Neither do Democrats.

Liberals, the ones in the U.S., do not like video games. Conservatives don't care.

This is different most everywhere else in the world.

You're probably a libertarian. You believe in the smallest government possible while having everybody have as many freedoms as possible, yeah?

That's a Libertarian. We are many, but we are confused. We have nobody to lead us. Republicans offer little in the choice of lowering the role of government and Democrats simply want to have the government run everything ever.

I've been to CPAC before(last year actually) and it's a great gathering if you're a conservative, which I am. That said I'm only a moderate conservative (And as such greatly dislike such characters as Rush and Glenn Beck)

I'll admit this idea is kind of lame, really. Perhaps I also detect a bit of hypocrisy in that McCullough was the one who had such a cow about ME, and now video-games are fine.

In conclusion, I'm slightly pissed at the way the writer or OP or whatever seemed to be talking down to those gamers who happen to be conservatives. Not all conservatives are old douches who hate video-games, and I would guess there are more than a couple conservatives who use this site.
