Nope! Two positives from that are the suit doesn't look as terrible as early shots from set suggested, and that they could (not will, but could) do something interesting with the 'illusion of free will' aspect.
Everything else seems to be missing the point or trying to go for the modern audience in a lame way.
Flippy-downey mask? Iron Man (see what I did there?)
America needs a symbol it can stand behind? Superheroes are in.
Super nimble jumping? Superheroes are in! Part of the point of Robocop was that he could barely move. Rather like zombies: they're slow, but relentless and will get you eventually, regardless.
Method of incapacitation? Car bomb, because terrorists (see also drone strikes). Also to make it safer as a film - the original was far too brutal and personal, right?
Where's the iconic music, the feeling of dirt, corruption and decay in every corner, every department and at every level?
Where's the humour and satire? Why does he know who he is?
Like it or not Robocop has an identity that is entirely unique and its own. This.. doesn't appear to have anything like that. I hope the detractors are wrong and this is passable-to-good but the trend it's following doesn't give it good chances.
