No... NO! Let's NOT go with BLACK! I'd rather if you give me a Batman from the future (didn't even like the show) than this look-alike, at first it felt a lot like Dredd, but then BOOM! Batman, and I lost all interest on this.

Also, I'm calling it right now, Samuel L. Jackson is a bad guy...

ok, action seams to be solid and im sure it will be entertaining enough. but i highly doubt it will be as good and dark and gory as the original.
i will keep an eye on it.

This doesn't look good.

The original was a satire on corporatism during the 80s. This new one just looks like your typical "good guys overcoming the odds by magic to beating the bad guys" action movie.

The casting is a bit of a problem. The lead actor is way too good looking. It makes the whole film look like a teen wish fulfillment fantasy flick - there is a place for that, but this movie should not be it.

Personally, I didn't like the way the new Robocop moves. Way too agile, lacks weight. Again, it's creating the impression of him being this super human fighting machine and pushing the film into wish fulfillment territory.

That trailer music sounds familiar...
Anyone know who else used it?
Or is it just utterly generic?
Sounds generic. Speaking of which, they couldn't even do some sort of remix of the Robocop Theme?

As lots have already said, it just looks like a generic action film. Its probably going to come across as a bad Iron Man rip off, and the black suit and 1 normal hand look ridiculous.

Very disappointed by this and I've got a feeling its just going to be forgotten about, as perhaps it should.

.... BOOOOOOOOOOOO!

... Actually, it doesn't look bad, I mean, it definitely could be worse, but sadly, it'll live under the shadow of the original, just like The Thing 2011 (wich wasn't terrible, but it wasn't as good as the original).

So yeah, looks like a nice little summer flick to munch popcorn while watching it, enjoying it and forgetting about it after a week or two.

It looks a lot better than i thought it would, the suit does look much better in motion which is what i suspected it would.

Its not like Robocop is some kinda of singular untouched master pieces, it having: 2 sequels, a live action tv show, 2 animated tv shows, comic books, computer games and toy aimed at children. There is a lot of stuff there, which isn't surprising considering the fame of the first one. I can almost guarantee this remake is going to be bet than some of stuff the franchise has turned out.

It is taking a different tone from the original, which i like, i think its a good thing. The best kind of remake takes the idea or character of the original and does something new with them, i think it works better than a shot for shot remake. Not to mention most great science fiction movie as remake or adaptations of some other media.

And its not exsatly going against Paul verhoeven film making method, seeing as 2 of his movies; Starship troopers and total recall are both based on a novel and a short story; "starship troopers" By Robert A heinlein and "we remember it for you wholesale" by Philip K Dick. Starship troopers also having almost nothing in commas with the novel, the movie its self widely thought of as good.

Not feeling it. The fact that it will be a PG13 is also going to suck balls.

Was i the only one laughing out loud at the irony of the scene where a excecutive is looking at a silver robocop then says " make him more tactical ... lets go with black" ?

i think that depicts a real meeting during the preproduction of robocop. the aparent self irony gives me hope for a good movie.

Agreed, that was a lovely hint of irony. I'm getting a sense that the film is aware of it's own creation.

Also I think Michael Keaton will be stealing every scene when ever his face appears on screen.

I will admit this doesn't look half bad. Definitely miles ahead of RoboCop 3 but that's not saying much.
For a typical sci-fi, action blockbuster it doesn't look bad. For a RoboCop movie? I'm kind of expecting something alot bloodier, cheesier and darker. And I will admit to being in the camp who much prefers the original silver armor.

I'm surprised that no one has done this:
I never asked for this

But on the topic. It is clear that they have remade RoboCop to fit todays action movie "standards". And the soundtrack felt so generic that I even didn't notice it.
Oh well, the reboot might end up as a decent action movie about guy in a mechsuit.

It seems I´m not at all up-to-date about this, I still thought Aronoffsky is directing, which gave me some hope on that "illusion of free will" thing. But yeah, it probably won´t be as interesting as it might have been - plus the fact they basically spoil the final point in the trailer ("there will always be his human part!" - not that it is such a surprise, but with Aronoffsky, it might have been something less trivial...).

On the other hand, it looks much better than I expected, plus the "let´s go with black" moment gives hope as to there being some irony and satire in it... but other than that, looks rather like a generic action movie to me.

With all that being said, I´m not a big fan of pre-judging movies by trailers, it´s just as likely they showed only the good bits of what is going to be a crap movie, as it is that the things that are going to make it good are the ones they cannot really show in 2 minutes...

I've seen the original Robocop last week and it holds up really well. It's actually better than I remember it being as a kid, and I really liked it back then.

The trailer looks all right but the original was a violent satire disguised as an action movie, full of not just memorable but iconic imagery and scenes. This looks blander, safer, dumber and more generic. I bet that if I mashed up scenes from this, the Total Recall remake, Elysium and a few other forgettable sci-fi from recent years into a short clip, it would be very hard to tell which scene belongs in which movie.

I think I'll wait for the DVD version.

I actually thought the trailer looks pretty sweet, and loved the black armor.

Maybe i am a bit biased because whenever i can i also chose for my armor / clothes in game to be (almost) completely black.

This is a family friendly Robo cop and will most likely suck as they fear to do 18s now. But the trailer looks goodish... so still waiting for reviews and word of mouth have very low expectations, still there is a glimer of hope.

about the black armour, i kinda got the impression from the trailer that he will change back to grey at some point, don't know, but i think it might be a story point to show he is no longer controlled.
I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the whole 'fake free will' part

Huh. I thought this sounded awful and I was unimpressed by the pictures I'd seen, but the trailer looks decent. I'm feeling a little more optimistic about this film.

This feels like... Syndicate when it was turned into an FPS.

I mean, I guess it'll be fun but I'm not anticipating much.

I'll see it if that weekend I have a decent amount of disposable income and the weather is shit.

Yeah, I am jumping on the 'Fucking TERRIBLE' bandwagon.

It took all of 60 seconds for me to realize this thing was actually going to take it self completely serious and grimdark. ..Yeah, that's not Robocop; that's every other movie.
