Rockstar Settles on Mediocre L.A. Noire Box Art

Actually... I like it. Maybe it's my overhyped 'MUST PLAY, MUST PLAY, MUST PLAY' side of me, but I see nothing wrong with Teal and Orange. It's not 'Noir' in any way, but at least it shows us what are we going to see in game: dames, murders and badass guys in kickass clothes (seriously, I love America's 20's to 40's men fashion design. Such a shame I would have looked like a weirdo in these days with a dress like that).

European (which I'm going to get) is also nice. It's still not Noir, and we don't see any dames and murders, but now we see another hero of the story - the city. And badass guy in kickass clothes. Can't forget about that.

Yeah, now when I actually think about it, it look like Cole in an awesome suit is making this boxart good for me.

Also, I would be seriously put off by that cover; it makes it look like a bad third person shooter with cheap eye-candy girls.

You mean cheap eye-candy corpses - I'm pretty sure that chick on the stateside box art is dead.

I am, frankly, at a loss for words. I mean, she's pretty, and the blood adds something to her image - a certain je ne sais quoi - but wow.

I agree, I'm not one the declare that whatever country or location does stuff better but I rather like the European version of this box art more than the US one. It's a nice simple look to it that works for me.

I thought it looked alright, I guess between the European and the U.S version I'd go with the Euro. But still it's nothing to get all tripped up about. Looks cool and definitely required some effort.

Wow, did you just dangle a badge in front of people to get them to adopt your line of reasoning on the subject? I'm sure you'll tell me that's not the case but that's certainly what it looks like from where I sit.

Wow. You have an incredibly negative view of the world. I honestly don't care if folks agree with me or not. If they think the cover is well done, great. I was just proposing a bit of fun, as I know there are many members of our community with exceptional art skills.

Here's an idea I had. I was hoping to make something stylized and unique, somewhat like ICO; even if it doesn't say too much about the game, the goal is to grab people's attention on a shelf.

That's really bad too. Neither are Megaman bad but they're just not very inspired.
I was hoping they would do a spoof of the old pulp fiction books, the old detective comics, or even the old film noir movie posters. The American art comes close to the latter but it's more like an 80s caricature of an old film noir movie poster.
Hopefully the boxart is the worst part of the game.
Yahtzee sure has our number doesn't he.

It's the same imagine cropped out and put in front of a building...

at least there's now no floating heads
