Curiously colourful for a game with 'NOIR' in huge letters in the middle of the box. A filmnoir type box art would have been interesting, but it probably wouldn't stand out on a crowded shelf. The current box art would stick out more with the contrasting red and blue focusing on the chap in the middle, and i suppose sticking out is all they are after. I suppose in the league of 'scowly main character holding a gun' type box art this lad has to be given credit as one of the more snazzily dressed.
Nah, I think the American one looks much better than that. Honestly, I don't get the negativity, I mean it pretty much explains the game in one image. Yeah it would've been cool to see a more noir style cover, but it would've also have been cool to see a black and white game to match it, but so far it looks more like LA Confidential with way more fedoras.
It's not bad. They could use a bit more near the bottom I s'pose.
The fabulous "L.A. Noire" lettering is great, standing out from the gloom and murder.
The european version doesn't really show much about the game either, but it's a lot more cleaned up. I like it more than the American's, but it's no reason to throw a fit.
Eh, it's boxart. I look at it when I first take the game out of the mailing envelope or box, and then never care what it looked like again. Plus it's nowhere near as bad as Uncharted 2's boxart, so I can live with it.
Nothing says "noire" like orange and blue, doesn't it?
Looks like the marketing wanted to avoid having the cover look like noire at all costs. Probably for the sake of teenagers being scared off by its boring facade.
It doesn't look horrendous or anything, but Christ, talk about run of the mill.
Dare I say I actually like it? While it would have been tempting to go along straight away with "wow, that's terrible" response but to be realistic, it could be much worse, I'm sure. it does manage to convey (as far as I know) something about the game. You can tell from the box art there are going to be some police investigations of sorts and that there may also be a woman in the game somewhere. Fascinating stuff. I'd actually prefer that over the European boxart. It's nothing fantastic granted, but it's hardly terrible...
