Oh come on the man dosen't even care about videogames he was just trying to defend his point of view. Sure it wasn't the smartest move but still it isn't with the same conotation as the "Videogames are made by the devil" thing. Plus I've personaly learned much more interesting stuff from videogames and porn then other more, said to be, wholesome sources.

Heh, and I had no idea who the fuck Ron Jeremy was. Ahh the ignorance!
And as every other teenager is going to tell you: I grew up on videogames, violent was not being an exception. I haven't turned into a psychotic murderer yet.

People are missing the point of the statement entirely. He actually says:

"[Studies have] found that violent videogames are much bigger a negative influence on kids,"
What I think he means (I don't know for certain, but this is how I understand it) is that violent videogames are having more of a negative influence on children as a whole than pornography is. For a start, violent video games are a lot less tightly controlled than pornography. There's also a lot less understanding about how violent some games are; you see lots of kids who are allowed to buy GTA IV* by their parents, but when was the last time you saw a parent let their child buy porn? I don't think he's saying letting your kid watch porn is better than letting them play a violent video game, I think he's saying that a kid playing a violent video game is much more likely than them watching porn and is therefore more dangerous. I'm not sure whether I agree with this, but when you look at the argument like this it seems a lot less unreasonable.

*GTA IV is like the Godwin's law of violent video game debates.

I used to play some of the most gory crap imaginable (Turok 2, etc.), and I turned out fine.

...a little psychotic perhaps, but otherwise fine.

My point is that different things affect different people differently.

Kids are impressionable and I do believe games can have an effect on them.
Just not a significant one.
And what is this "Porn" you speak of? *shifty eyes*

Meh. I tend to agree. I'd rather have my kids see a money shot performed than someone getting cut to pieces with a chainsaw. Granted, ideally they'd see neither until at least turning teenage, by which time they're probably learning enough in school/via the internet about both to not really be influenced by either anymore.

Judging by the photo, I find it difficult to believe that it is possible to take his opinion seriously.

Let's add pornography to my little list of evils:
Pornography = may cause damage mentally, resulting in sexual confusion and acting out fantasies onto unwilling participants. May be salvageable with the right therapy, which may take years to pay off. And if you're lucky, you won't be put on that Sex Offenders list.

Porn in general versus videogames in general?

I'm fairly sure that one of those is clearly worse than the other.

This comes down to a debate between which is worse for children to be exposed to: violence or sex?
Since they already get plenty of violence growing up from pretty much any cartoon, naturally my vote goes to sex. Even then, it comes down to taboos. Having a child watch pornography seems a lot more perverse and wrong than sitting them down in front of Manhunt 2. But then, it's the fact that these topics are forbidden that make people more interested in them. So, I say load 'em up with both!

Normally, given the choice, I'd prefer porn over violence. That's one priority that American media in particular has gotten switched around.

But if it's a question of kids inadvertently seeing Ron's greasy, potbellied, grey-pubed carcass, I'll make an exception. Watching vivsections would be less traumatic.
