Ruined FOREVER

Now these girls, they get into them and immediately start doing what anime fangirls are wont to do: they start shipping characters in yaoi pairings, and then immediately latch on to said pairing as "canon", refusing any and all attempts to make them stop. Nowadays, I can't even talk about anything with the other guys without them chiming in with "OMG BRUCE/CLARK (that's Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, aka Batman and Superman) IS SO (insert fangirl rant here)"

Well, I've not witnessed that in person myself. Though I must say, it IS helpful to know for certain now why it was always called "slash fiction" I never quie understood it. But now I do. Thank you.

Anyway aside from that, I DID know a girl that almost ruined Manga and even Anime for me. The girl was honestly Schizo. And was so in such a way that she honestly believed that the anime chars (most often males) talked to her. And that she talked to them. ANd would (with even a fraction of a chance) explain to you about all the relatives of these characters the creators "didn't know about." Oh, and all the male chars were in love with her as well. I very clearly wanting to strangle the girl after hearing the most recent rant about how Alucard (yes . . . HELLSING'S Alucard) was so breathlessly in love with her that he blushed frequently in her presence and couldn't speak without a constant stutter.

Let me repeat that for you. She believed that Alucard from Hellsing . . . was in LOVE with her . . . would pant, blush, and stutter BREATHLESSLY in her presence, and had 6 brothers and 2 younger sisters (zuh!?) who were all in love with her as well. And would constantly go on and on about how tiring it was to be "wanted" by so many.

What the hell is with my gender and yaoi? <_< When I look up fan art or fanfic, I want to see interesting and/or funny spins on characters, not squick-worthy crap (the exception is the impressive Respawn of the Dead fanfic, which has traces of *actually well done* Heavy/Medic slash*). I know this is the most futile task for a human to undertake, second only to achieving light speed, but my hope refuses to die.

It's never happened to me, personally. Thank god. However, I know someone who is insane about slashing a pair of my friend's characters.

Personally, its not the yaoi that bothers me so much (6 years with the same group of friends does that to you), its that they've effectively blocked all attempts at discussing anything at all and railroaded it into "OMG HAL/BARRY (Hal Jordan and Barry Allen, Green Lantern and The Flash, respectively)"

As someone who loves Yaoi (Yes, I love it >_>) I can say I do agree with what you say.
Yaoi is Yaoi and comics are well... comics... The two should never mix. unless the character is gay and has a boyfriend already, the characters should be left alone and kept to whatever love interest that said character has (Spider-man/Peter Parker with mary jane for example)
