Rumor: Halo: Combat Evolved Remake Likely in 2011

Of all games to remake... All the ones that need graphic overhauls, updated mechanics, 1080p, new cutscenes, and a second chance at a solid audience...

Why remake this one?

I agree... People are still buying and playing this game, not to mention that there isn't a lot they can do story wise to make the game better. I mean, sure, they could a few levels.. But that's about it. Why go through all that trouble? I mean sure, some people would buy it. Maybe even enough to pay off the costs it'll take to remake and produce it. But no one will play it for very long. Unless, of course, they do a full overhaul of the multiplayer that trumps Reach's.. But if that were the case, wouldn't we already have more info then just a few rumors by now?

Part of the reason I think people still play this is A)Its a fairly decent game. B)Most people who I know still play this game are on the PC and requires little power in order to play allowing for older comps. to be able to play it. This is just a company that's trying to cash in on a franchise without wanting or being capable of coming up with new ideas of their own.

Love the idea since it was the best one in the series (to me the covenant civil war ruined the story because suddenly we had powerful allies so the threat of being wiped out by aliens was greatly reduced). Besides, I lost my original copy of Halo CE for the xbox so it'd be nice to have a replacement.

I disagree with this however, there's certainly room to invite newcomers to the franchise, but remaking such a recent game still may be pushing it.

I hate to say it, but the original Halo is held on a pedestal by most people purely because of nostalgia. The subsequent games were far superior to the original.

I just don't see the point of this remake. Maybe if they change up the level design and balance, then it'll be on par with recent entries like Reach. But otherwise, this seems somewhat frivolous.

Okami, Shadow Of The Colossus, Ace Combat 5, Soul Calibur 2 ... Choo Choo Rocket.

I'm honestly not surprised, but the FF7 fans might be pissed, the xbox owners get their flagship title before playstation owners can get theirs.

I like Halo and it was the first FPS game I ever really played so it does hold a special place for me.

That being said a re-make now seems too soon I'd think you'd want to let the industry grow more that one generation so the upgrade would be worth more, It would be like if Nintendo released an updated Mario or Zelda on every conso.....oh right.

well you can't blame them if they copy a formula that works.

This. I actually enjoyed Halo up to the point where the Flood were revealed. After that, well, let's say I wish this franchise would burn in the pits of hell.

I actually enjoyed the tension that The Flood brought to the game (the original, that is), though they did get boring in the latter games.

I'm glad they weren't in Halo: Reach.

I really do hope that there is a HCE remake.

Pretty much all I have to say on the matter...I might buy it, depends what all they add. If it's just an HD remake I probably won't buy it full price, but if they atleast add multiplayer...that would be worth it.
