Oh heck no, the Hitman series was far too successful (as a whole, not each game individually; look at Contracts =/) and too unique of a game idea to be just canceled. Come on, name one game where you could
- feed poisonous donuts to the feds,
- slit a gardener's throat with his own shears,
- dispose of bodies in a dumpster truck,
- snipe a dog from a treehouse with a tranquilizer gun,
- cause a human barbecue,
- AND shoot a drug dealer with a .480 cal in the face.
and all that in THE SAME MISSION.
F''king unique I tell you.
Don't forget about putting chloroform (or something similar) into girls panties to knock out a guard. That mission was so sweet. Easily my favorite one.

For the love of god, please let Hitman 5 live. I want my Agent 47 back. I swear that Hitman Bloodmoney was more addictive than drugs.

I find it INCREDIBLY hard to believe that a company would axe a sure expense returner such as Hitman 5, especially after a chance they took failed. If you want to rebuild go back to what you know, don't totally ignore your prior experience.

I'm sorry to hear of this. The studio's work has been admittedly hit-and-miss, but at least they usually seem to be trying to do something interesting.

They did kick an employee out of Gamespot for the controversy of Kane & Lynch 1 ads...

So, They worked 4 years on Kane and Lynch 2 which was horrible and were taking away PRECIOUS Hitman 5 development time....WHY? This is... I can't even describe my anger.... Hitman is and always will be better than Kane and Lynch 1&2, This is bullshit....

I screwed up on that mission so badly once that I've had a grudge against it ever since.

Although I've done everything on that list except kill a gardener with shears and shoot a drug dealer. Where was the drug dealer in A New Life anyway?
The dealer was the target i think.

I think they were trying to jump on the shooter bandwagon with K&L. They saw how other companies were having success with shooters (both 1st and 3rd person) and they decided to jump into an already oversaturated market. Bad move IO, bad move. The Hitman series was so unique that IO could have pumped out another more-of-the-same Hitman game and it'd still be a hit given how few games out there come close to matching the Hitman series. No, Altair/Ezio can't hold a candle to 47 when it comes to stealthily killing a target, making it look like an accident and slipping out like the wind and nobody saw you come and go. Please just be a rumor.

Nooooo!! *flails arms in air in unhappiness*

That's such a shame. I was really looking forward to Hitman 5!
I didn't really like Kane and Lynch, and everytime I've gone to Game they seem to have loads of them as 'pre-owned'

...Why. No, seriously, why? Why would they do such a thing - the Hitman games are good! Part of what makes Kane & Lynch so insufferable is the knowledge that IO Interactive has essentially been wasting its time making widely derided games featuring crappy protagonists when it could have been making another awesome Hitman game instead. People actually like Hitman!

Assuming this is true, nothing about that makes a damn bit of sense.

If Hitman 5 is dead whilst they shoved out Kane and f*cking Lynch I will rage.
It's funny that because it took until Blood Money for IO to realise people wanted Hitman for the stealth-murder simulation, whilst earlier ones contained too much running and gunning as a necessity and people hated it.
Sorry, but have you even played the other games?
Certainly doesn't seem like it, considering only the very first Hitman title had "forced running and gunning" (and even then only in a few VERY small segments). In practice a lot of the missions in the earlier games might end up devolving into pitched gun battles, but that says more about the players inclinations towards violence/suck-tastic stealth skills than it does about the game requiring you to run and also, whilst running, gun.

Hitman has always been a stealth-murder simulator, its just that you could choose to go in blasting (and it could be a lot of fun sometimes, heh).

Yes, what makes you think I haven't? The first game was the worst for this, especially the jungle sections(urgh!) and even in the earlier missions you get dropped right into a fight after a cutscene. Blood Money only does this once, in the nightclub. Contracts is the only Hitman game I haven't fully played through and I thought it was too similar to the second game. Blood Money was simply the best because it was what people wanted a Hitman game to be 95% of the time.

I hope IO drop Kane & Lynch though, I don't want to have to wait four games for them to work out the formula that works for it. Repetitive shoot-outs don't cut it, which they should have nailed at least on the second try.

EDIT: Oh and you people, don't make me go through three Hitman titles listing each occasion on which there is no way forward except a shoot-out because of events during a cutscene. In Blood Money it happens once but in the first game it's in almost half the missions; all the 'boss' targets and all of the last part of the game.
