I guess we can all have that Boer War FPS we've always wanted when a British developer decides to make it.

Finally! I always wanted a Call of Duty game set in Vietnam! I would rather have it be developed by Infinity Ward but, Treyarch isn't as bad as everybody says.

Yes, because it's completely unreasonable for a California-based developer made largely of Americans to make a game about Americans...?
Um, Pwned?

But yeah, hopefully this is good.

It's still gonna be the same CoD formula no matter what but it sounds much more interesting than another Modern Warfare.

Don't worry Funk, I got this.

For (unfortunately not) the last time: Forum threads have absolutely no bearing on what we post on the front page of the site. Many people come to the site and don't read the forums at all. Just because it gets posted in the News Room forum does not make this a forum thread, it makes it a news post.
A bullet dodged I guess.

I retract my statement.
It's okay. I did the same thing when I said(wrote?), "This entire thread has been ninja'd."

Funk's reply was the one you see above.

To be fair, I didn't say it because I was mad, I like Funk's news and reviews, its just one of my threads we're locked for being a "repeat of a previous thread of the same subject" although the differences were numerous and the thread in question wasn't active.

It pissed me off a little, and I guess I'm taking it out on people who shouldn't deserve it. I'm man enough to admit it, I apologise finally before moving on from it.
That was basically my reply to Funk:

Um... sorry? I was just joking, you know. Cause people are always saying things like "MOTHERF*CKING SEARCH BAR!", I just found it funny that this was a repeat thread(kinda).

So, sorry, I guess. No hard feelings, right?

*tries to get back on Mr.Funk's good side*

So we could post a thread in the gaming discussion that has already been posted in the news room right?
No.

I realize this comes off as a double standard, considering that there are many people who solely use the forums, and who only read the news posts as forum posts in the News Room. But when we make news posts, we make a news post - like an article, it is its own separate entity. It also happens that creating a news post creates a forum thread in the News Room for people to discuss it, that's part of our automated system (and I think people enjoy having a place to discuss things).

We try to minimize duplicate threads. If there is already a discussion thread for something, we ask that you take it there instead of starting a new one. Now, because posting a news item automatically generates the forum thread, that IS the discussion thread, so we'd ask that people discuss the thing there rather than creating new threads about it in Gaming or Off-Topic. However, if there's a thread in Gaming or Off-topic, it has no bearing on if we decide to write a news post about it - which simultaneously generates a forum thread.

They're two separate things, with a bit of overlap.

Yes.. a war game..about war.
WHODUA THUNK

EDIT: It's pretty unlikely you will see any European nations in this one, unless the first mission/intro is of a French unit like in We Were Soldiers.
Chances are pretty good they will let you play as the Vietcong, though, ,maybe even the friendly Vietnamese.

And I hope they dont use MW2's engine/setup/coloring.
It's a bit too easy and quirky feeling for a Vietnam game.

Would be cool if they polished up the WaW stuff.

I loved BF: V (as my pic might suggest) and hated WaW.
Let's see what's coming eh? Though Vietnam is a great setting (that sounds really, harsh doesn't it...)

What else do you want?

First people get all pissed off at new WWII games, but when a Vietnam game comes out now it's bad because it has to do with the U.S.? Very mature, no mixed signals.

This sounds like it could be pretty cool, I wonder what the two stories will be e.g. America in the Pacific, Russia in the East.

What's with all the Treyarch hate? COD3 was below average yes, but WaW was exceptionally good and personally I found it better than COD4

Actually, it's almost too convenient... Do you have mics listening in on the IW headquarters? If so, I want in.

I will only buy this game if it includes a crazed door gunner yelling out "Get some!" and shooting at farmers for absolutley no reason.
