Fact: The only way this could be awesome is if it's largely written and planned by anyone who ISN'T George Lucas. I've read a few books set in the expanded universe, the games range from average to excellent, hell, there are probably a few good fan-fics out there (bell curve theory says it must be so).
Maybe I'm wrong though. Maybe George Lucas CAN write a good Star Wars movie, if it really is set far in the future. Hell, he's the one who came up with Star Wars in the first place. Maybe it's time we give Mr. Lucas the second chance we never really gave him. He's still a great director, as evidenced by the original trilogy.
I dunno, it's just so hard to reconcile these two men. On the one hand, we have the man who dreamed up Star Wars and managed to make it happen. On the other, the man who made Jar-Jar Binks, midichlorians, pod racing, pointless scenes of pointless discussion of pointless politics... ye gods, I haven't gotten half-way through the first prequel. Okay, screw George Lucas, bring in somebody else. Bioware and Bethesda, R. A. Salvatore, Richard A. Knaak, anybody. Give me a few months, I could bang out a half-way decent screenplay.
