If this DLC is only to fill them in on the backstory of the first Mass Effect, I doubt there's any reason for fanboys to be smug since they get a cut down version of great game.

D:< This is bull. Why should the PS3 owners get special treatment? at the very least BioWare should give some of the DLC free to PC and Xbox users.
Because they've waited a year or so for only one half of an already established franchise, and it would work as a form of compensation for waiting?

Fuck this, this is bullshit, great work BW give PS£ players special treatment, fuck it im not buying ME3, give them the game fine, but im not getting less content and paying more just because I play on a fucking xbox.
Oh c'mon, are we still going through that? Let's put this in perspective;

Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas DLC.
Call of Duty 4, MW2, and Black Ops DLC.
Grand Theft Auto 4 DLC.

All of these games got exclusive DLC for the 360, later coming out some time later for the PS3/PC, yet you don't hear complaining of that from the latter's owners.

You payed for Mass Effect 2 on the 360 so you could play it right then and there. Nobody would expect the second game in the trilogy to come to another platform, after a whole year or so of waiting. You payed for Mass Effect 2 on the 360 for convenience, and PS3 owners have got jack-shit and don't even get the first game to get the proper story and save-carrying-over of the games.

This is not "special treatment" or some bullshit "backstabbing" on Bioware's behalf. It's compensation for waiting this long for half the games available out for the Mass Effect franchise.

*sigh* If the PS3 gets an exclusive 6-hour mission, then, as a huge ME fan, I'll have to get that version too. I hope it'll find its way onto the 360 in a short timespan. But that interactive comic sound pretty cool, especially if it's a way to make ME1 decisions.

I don't particularly care about the extra DLC mission that the PS3 version is getting, I'm just happy they are going to include something so I can get a little overview about the ME1 story. It's a Bioware game, story is important.

Not really, honestly its fair, I mean PS3 owners have to wait a whole year before getting 2 when PC/360 already got it. They also missed out on Mass Effect 1 becuase Microsoft own's the right to it.
You are good friend however, why should the PS3 owners get all of the DLC at probably a $60 price while those who first got it had to pay upwards of 70
Um... Because you got it when it FIRST came out, while ps3 owners are getting it ages later? That's like complaining "Why should ppl be able to buy ps3's for $250 when I paid $500 for my launch system".
*flame shield* If Sony had either did their work before hand or presented itself as a viable system when BW made ME1 then we wouldnt be in this situation. And besides thats still unfair why should those who came after the fame glory and attention get it cheaper. If anything the price should go up

For the exact reason you said, it came "AFTER THE FAME, GLORY, AND ATTENTION" When something is popular it's high priced, when ppl stop caring about it the price drops. It's like getting a wii when it first came out and was like searching for a unicorn in game stores. No matter where you went for months you couldn't find it. Now talking about a wii just brings lulz as everything including the stray cat grandma takes care of has one. Weather Sony shoulda presented itself better in the first place, MS just bought time exclusive rights doesn't matter because they're getting the game a year after the others. Even if they get something extra, I'm sure most woulda glady given it up to have gotten a same time release. And the extra stuff could be nothing more then an advance intro mission since they're still getting fcked over by not getting ME1. It's just pointless bitching for the sake of pointlessly bitching.

Happiness. That's what I'm feeling like now. Warm chocolate happiness. This is great news, I have never owned any Microsoft console so I've missed out on all of this, and am reveling at the chance to be able to get a piece of this and now I hear we're getting compensation for our heart ache? I'm not interested in if it's an exclusive or not, I'm just happy to be getting it! Can't wait to get my hands on this!

It would most likely be a timed exclusive, like how Fallout 3 and New Vegas DLC, the GTA DLC, and Call of Duty DLCs have been on the 360. Just puttin' it in perspective here.

Wow. Really? We're going to call Microsoft douchebags because they won't let Sony have a game they published on the PS3? I mean, damn, how can Microsoft be so greedy when Sony and Nintendo love to share? I mean, right now I'm playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 on my PS3, and then I was going to go play some Uncharted on my Wii.

[HEADING=1]Oh wait.[/HEADING]

Microsoft isn't being a douchebag, they're just doing what every other console maker does: not sharing the games they have publishing rights to with the competition. The real douchebags are people who think Microsoft is doing something outrageous by not handing out free copies of Mass Effect to PS3 owners. Maybe they should share some Gears of War and Halo while they're at it.

My guess regarding the comic is that it is probably a motion comic version of Mass Effect: Redemption that was published by Dark Horse. As I understand it is basically the story of how Cerberus got Shephards body from the Shadow Broker, but I havn't read it yet because I havn't had a chance to get ahold of one of the collections in either paperback or hardcover.

I'm thinking this will be Mass Effect 2: Game of the Year Edition, which is like what Bethesda did with Fallout 3: GotY Edition. I mean it's pretty much lock to get Game of the Year.
nay, the story in-between ME2 and ME3 isn't finished and there are more story/plot related DLC coming (don't know how many though)
Thanks for that bit of information. I thought they'd pretty much solidified the story to ME3 by the time ME2 was released but I guess that was not the case.

I don't think you'll ever get the same connection to the Mass Effect one characters if you don't play through the game. I mean when you see Garrus it's like "OMG It's Garrus, Bad ass! My alien home boy! Remember when we took down Saren, Bro?" fighting side by side, wading through dialogue trees and loyalty quests. An interactive comic will be hard pressed to make you feel as strongly about characters you'll be meeting for the first time and for that I feel kind of sad for the folks who'll be starting this journey on playstation. But the combat in Number one was kind of tedious so they have that going for them. Now if I get this DLC and a patch for Ish I'll be golden.

A six hour mission? Crap, I think they may have just sold me on this. Better be a REAL mission though, where my teammates talk to me. Also, I like the idea of having an interactive comic to let players choose the story points from Mass Effect. That will solve a lot of problems I would otherwise have with the game, seeing as I do Paragon and for some reason BioWare likes to think Renegade is the default version with no import.

It is standard practice in the gaming industry for ports/remakes to be spiced up with extra content in order to entice gamers to purchase it. This is particularly important nowadays, since multiple-platform ownership is common among core gamers. As such, BioWare must give people every reason they can to purchase the PS3 version.

Not to mention that creating what now appear to be 2 separate story line for different versions of the game is not a good idea at all.

Not to mention that no amount of new content will make up for the fact that they releasing a sequel to the PS3 without releasing the original.
You just sortof answered your own question, did you not? Since the Ps3 isn't getting the first Mass Effect, being published by Microsoft n' all, there needs to be some sort of compensation for the year and a half or so of waiting for the 2nd game to be ported. And how would it be "two separate storylines"? It's the same storyline, just told in a different way because the PS3 isn't getting the original Mass Effect.

But whatever, awesome for PS3 owners, though I am probably going to get Mass Effect for my PC if it's for sale on STEAM some time.
This guy said it;

ME1 will not come to the PS3 because the rights are owned by Microsoft Games Studios.
