why am i losing my time with a social justice warrior? believe what you want, but let me tell you, theres no reason for kratos to not wear any sort of armor either, or atleast a t-shirt an some pants
im sure theres sexism in gaming, there is in every other media as well, but you couldnt have picked a worse example
also i literally cant see her ass in OP's image, in fact as a male i find this outrageous, im gonna tell the patriarchy!
You lose credibility when you open your argument with name calling. Also a worse example? How is the addition of high heels to a suit that she is supposed to wear while interfacing with her power armor for no logical reason other than she is a woman and high heels are attractive NOT an example of sexism? And the rocket boots aren't a good justification, because as I said in an earlier post, Haloid managed to make more respectable rocket boots than that, and that ended with a sexy dance!
i shouldnt have called him names, regardless its not the high heels, which i agree are out of place, but his criticism of the zero suit itself, which honestly are getting ridiculous, are women now not allowed to show any part of her body for any reasn whatsoever?
that the kind of attitude that really annoys me
specially when the same rule doesnt seem to apply to men
He isn't criticizing the design for it simply being sexualized, he is criticizing it for being sexualized and it making no sense at all within the context of the suit and clashing with the tone of the Metroid universe and that is the problem with so many instances of sexualizes characters. The characters of RWBY are sexualized, but it works, why? Because it fits with the tone of the RWBY universe. Bayonetta is sexualized, but it works, why? Because it fits with the overall goofy nature of her world and the sexually dominant nature of her personality. Poison Ivy is sexualized, but it works, why? Because her approach to problems involves seducing men and therefore it would make sense that she dresses skimpily. Samus having high heels when she is a professional career bounty hunter in a consistently serious setting where no one else dresses like that makes no sense whatsoever. THAT is what is pissing people off.
But super smash bros is an incredibly goofy game. I would understand if people were getting pissed if these things were in a legitimate metroid game, but they're not. They are part of a fighting game that has nothing to do with the canon of the series.
I would've considered that a valid explanation if it wasn't for the fact the first three smash bros games managed to get by without giving Samus high heels and this one doesn't feel the need to be giving any of the other female characters high heels, or sexualizing any of the male characters in anyway. Heck, even the Zero Suit introduced in Brawl managed to get by with her having realistic looking shoes.

And this is the first game that Samus is appearing in after Metroid Other M. People are still sore about that and this is NOT Nindento's best foot forward after the trainwreck that that was.
I think that the introduction scene of Samus in brawl was way to sexualized with the way the camera went up her body. Anyway none of that changes the fatc that smash bros is a goofy game. You said so yourself that her wearing heels in such a serious setting is what pissing people off. Also, while she has always worn heels, Peach is another female character that runs around and fights in heels. Look' I see where people are coming from with this and if this was in an actual metroid game I'd be right beside everyone else, but this is her model in a game that has no canon value what so ever. Though I will give you that Nintendo didn't sexualize any of the male characters.
Not exactly, the storyline from Brawl attempted to be rather serious what with there being WMDs, the genocide of an entire race, and a rather menacing enemy. And did Brawl fuck up Samus too? Yeah, probably, but that doesn't make what it did here any less sleazy. Also Samus always wears heels? False. Factually incorrect. And yes Peach wears heels...here's the thing though. Peach is commonly hated by a lot of people because she's viewed as useless, ditzy, someone who just has to be rescued over and over again, and overall is rarely proactive. And her move set in the brawl games usually involves using vegetables, frying pans, and her ass. Is that really the type of person we should be putting on the same level as Samus Aran, whose daily routine involves blowing up planets and stopping space pirates from using biological weapons of war? And whose move set included not her own posterior, but energy blasts, missiles and bombs? That's the thing about Smash Bros, while it is rather goofy with the way that so many games are coming together, they stay loyal to the various games. Mario shoots fireballs, Link shoots arrows, Solid Snake uses modern weapons, Sonic uses Chaos Emeralds, Donkey Kong uses bongos and Game and Watch is Game and Watch. Why is it that Samus is getting such bizarre changes when no one else is getting them?
Also, I couldn't help but notice that Zelda, someone who is usually viewed in a much more positive light than Peach, with people usually seeing her as regal, more proactive and much more competent, managed to get away without high heels.
