Well yeah, that's my point. They're not fighting in their underpants because that would be anything but optimal.
This however? This is a skin in a fighting game or a "different character" altogether which makes no sense if you look at it from any other angle than fanservice.
expanding the roster? giving players more options?

NNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

boy im getting real tired of this "sexism" witch hunt

i dont get why a character thats covered in full body armor 80% of the time and in jumpsuit that covers almost her entire body the other 20% (with extremely legit plot reasons) is more "sexualized" than say, kratos, a characters who wears exclusively a loincloth

Because losing her armor due to explosion magic so she can search for new armor that just magically attaches to her is rock solid plot yes. 100% legit.
And this is totally how jumpsuits work, sure. Not pandering at all, just depicting things the way they would be.
It is also completely coincidental how every single zero suit artwork pose in the history of ever shows off her tits and ass, yep.
Nice try.

meh. Its smash bros. The context is a little different here. Its all toony. Not too much a cause for alarm. Too cartoony to imagine one being in danger or being burned down to muscle tissue by flying plasma beams, or punctured by .50 rifle rounds. Now Miranda Lawson from Mass Effect might not be entirely logical and couldve used more safe reinforcement. Its implied that its based on actual creatures incurring 'semi-authentic' environmental hazards.

'sides. this may look cool in a vid game world....

But would you wear it in public proudly? Imagine the anatomical female equivalent... XD

I'm not big on the heels, but eh, I don't really mind. I know, Samus is Nintendo's golden girl and one of the go-to examples for strong female characters, but I just don't see why the reason for uproar. Now yes, I get it from a practical standpoint, heels being hard to walk in and throwing off your balance, and I get it from a character design perspective, i.e. our badass powersuit-wearing bounty hunter wearing heels doesn't seem to fit the character. However, I equate it like this:

A: Samus's enhanced abilities. I admit my knowledge of Metroid is limited, but I'm pretty sure that when the Chozo enhanced Samus's DNA, that included enhanced agility and balance. So, I equate it to Samus's balance is already so good that the heels don't really factor in.
B: Metroid's setting. Metroid looks pretty futuristic, so maybe they've figured out balance-enhancing tech (would be interesting to see some world-building in Metroid), like maybe those anklets?
C: The "Who Cares" Argument. It's Super Smash Brothers, man. Characters tend to be extremely varied in terms of attire (Peach fights in heels and a ball gown, for example), so I just see this as run of the mill.
D: The "I'm Badass And I Know It" argument. From a character knowledge perspective, if anyone knows how badass Samus is, it's Samus herself. Think of it as "yeah, I know I'm wearing heels. Doesn't mean your ass is getting kicked any lighter."

As I recall, the suit worked that way in Prime 3. I remember a scene where she she became nauseous after absorbing a bunch of phazon, and she energized her helmet so she wouldn't throw up in it.

are you seriously critizing a sci-fi franchise for its lack of realism? really?

why am i losing my time with a social justice warrior? believe what you want, but let me tell you, theres no reason for kratos to not wear any sort of armor either, or atleast a t-shirt an some pants

im sure theres sexism in gaming, there is in every other media as well, but you couldnt have picked a worst example
Not my fault that you can't see the difference between kratos and zero suit samus.

indeed, and im thankful for that

i get to appreciate characters for what they are and not for what they are wearing

Ok, who's idiotic idea was it to give Samus HEELS??? I'm guessing it's the same person whose idea it was to give her dull boring monologues.

The heels ARE a bit much...but eh, the overall design of the character is still aesthetically pleasing.

The yellow kind of sucks, though I can see the logic behind it; trying to balance the blonde? Perhaps? Neon yellow was a terrible choice for that, and any other, purpose, regardless.

Looking at it...the heel portion actually looks like a grip for a weapon of some kind.

Is it weird my first thought was "Why that colour?"

I guess it matches her bracelets, but it looks so much more prominent and...Absurd.

Yeah those are kind of fucking silly. Also design wise the way they look clamped onto the zero suit like she's wearing high heels as opposed to them being integrated with the design is awkward looking.

I've seen heels with grips on them before, and I definitely wouldn't use the term 'weapon' to describe what they're for.

These heels look really dumb, all sjw-ing aside, and that's reason enough to dislike them.

I don't care for Zamus, she's an imposter, but I have to say those heels really do stick out. It's the first thing I noticed, so I think it's a focus point that messes with the whole design. Needs to be more subtle.

I do like the idea of rocket boots and the zero suit never really bothered me. And while those don't look too bad...I still have to shake my head a little bit. For Christ's sake, Haloid had more respectable rocket boots. And that ended with a crack Fem!Master ChiefxSamus pairing!

also i literally cant see her ass in OP's image, in fact as a male i find this outrageous, im gonna tell the patriarchy!
You lose credibility when you open your argument with name calling. Also a worse example? How is the addition of high heels to a suit that she is supposed to wear while interfacing with her power armor for no logical reason other than she is a woman and high heels are attractive NOT an example of sexism? And the rocket boots aren't a good justification, because as I said in an earlier post, Haloid managed to make more respectable rocket boots than that, and that ended with a sexy dance!

I actually like the way they look, im a bit of a fan of ther overly Sci Fi design. But i hate that shes wearing them. The reason i liked the zero suit was because it really fit with the character design, having a sort of second skin almost with which to interface with the suit and the heals just ruin that in my opinion. It also doesnt help coming after Other M. After that atrocity Nintendo needs to be really careful with how they handle Samus.

ALL THE HATE IN THE WORLD!

OT: Jesus guys, they're not *that* bad. Sure, they don't exactly suit how she looked before, but I think a lot of people are just bothered it wasn't exactly the same sexy Samus from before. They're rocket heels for crying out loud. ROCKET HEELS! Though a bit odd (Rocket boots tend to be the more common choice), the ideas of what these could do for her moveset and such could be interesting. Relax, it's not ruining *that* much for her design. Not to me, anyways (And if it ruins things for you, that's fine)

Huh? Her power suit's always materialised and de-materialised from nowhere, just check any of the Prime 100% endings - even the original appearance in Zero Mission [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXfEX2Gsurg&t=7m38s] implies that.
This has been a constant in the Metroid franchise, including the manga.

Basically, Samus is a Henshin Hero [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HenshinHero], and that's pretty awesome.

So why isn't any body complaining about peach and zelda kicking ass in heels? or is this just about how badly they stick out?
