Scariest games

Condemned: I never finished this because it was too scary for me. Granted, most of the scares come from "pop out"-like moments, but still...there's nothing scarier than a deranged hobo running at you with a pipe.

Fatal Frame 2: I find that Japanese ghost stories are the scariest

Silent Hill 1: Had to sleep with the lights on for a couple days

Dead Space: What makes this game scary is the atmosphere and how well the Necromorphs are animated. Also, the disembodied voice singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" was unnerving.

I didn't really play that many scary games, but I remember Ravenholm from Half-Life 2.
When I first heard the fast zombies, I nearly turned the game off.

It's not that scary but the medical area in Bioshock when you first start out is creepy as hell.

This reminds me, I first played this game at a friend's place with three other people. After playing, the host put me and the other two in a closet, shut the door, turned out all the lights, and put on the opening music in full blast. Made for fun times.

Dead Space is pretty good. Even if it doesn't scare you it's a pretty good game. Ohter than that I don't really play any scary games.

Ocarina of Time. Pretty tame for a while until about 2/3rds through, at the shadow temple.

Yeah, that one's pretty nerve-cracking. Then there is Hotel Room 626, Darkness the Game and Clock Tower...

The second one. I quit in the living room it got a bit boring. If you didn't have to keep clickin the same things it would be much better.

I once smoked a lot of hash and played System Shock 2 with headphones, in the dark.

It was probably the worst idea I've ever had.

I remember being pretty scared when I got to first "dungeon" (lab) in S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl.
I was scarred shitless to be honest xD. It was all dark and creepy. Oh and there were those things that tried to kill you all the time. That's the one I remember best.

Other games... Well there were some spooky moments in many but that was more of a surprise than real "being scared".
OH I REMEMBER NOW! I was also scared like hell when I played Silent Hill on the first play station. I think I was 8 back then. Darn I had to plug it into a small tv and play while my parents were watching tv xD. Playing it alone in the dark was just way too scary ^^.
