Ugh... I had hoped us Britons where too cynical to fall for the stupidity of Scientology. My countrymen, you've failed me!Kilaknux said:I don't know about elsewhere, but in London there's Queen Victoria street and Tottenham Court Road, and East Grinstead, which is their main base of operations in England. And indeed, good for the French - as for England, do we even have outposts of that insanity here?Kilaknux said:NOBODY EXPECTS THE---
Sorry, sorry, reflex.
OT: Awesome! I can't believe I'm saying this, but go France! It's about bloody time the Scientologists got some legal smackdown, as opposed to internet based. Now, England, we're waiting...

And one can dream...
Well, we have christians here, and yet are in effect one of the most secular nations in the world. Mind you, research suggests that a) only 50% of the English claim to be christian, and b) Only 1 in 10 of them attend church more than once a month. So, in reality, only 5% of our population is strongly Christian, heh.odubya23 said:Thank goodness, now we just gotta start chipping away at those crazy Christians, and finally my beautiful United States can once again be safe for secular thought.
Hang them all.
-sigh- doesnt everybody... though I hope this ridiculous religion will go down the drain though I hope that for all of them this is first on my listDoug said:We can but hope. Pretty much sums up what it is and the type of people it contains.
That will be a breach of 'freedom of religion' at any rate. But doing bad things, and excusing that your religion tells you to is not a valid excuse in court.Doug said:We can but hope. I think when it started gaining mass amounts of money it was pretty much able to buy its religious status, let along getting any dirt on politicians (though that would have considerably helped I imagine).Echolocating said:I believe Scientology was considered a cult when it first started in the US and was treated as such until the Scientology guys got some serious dirt on an influential politician and "magically" it was given official religion status and all the perks and protection that go with that shit.
Ah yes, Religions are generally known for their rationality and absolute lack of violence. At no point in history do any other religions display violent or murderous behaviors in order to fulfill their own agenda. I mean, things like burning innocent people alive tied to a stake for not agreeing to their insanity, ostracizing innocent people for absolutely no reason but refusing to share their idiocy, trying to make things illegal for everyone just because they don't like them or shooting planes full of innocent people against buildings full of innocent people just because they felt like it... Clearly you know nothing of the horrors of the 'church' of Scientology.
In general religions preach (along-side belief in God [or gods]) proper morals and respect (Racism and sexism aside).
Scientology preaches paying the church money to be monitored so that one might learn the 'truth' - then killing anyone who tries to leave.
Hopefully this will make a difference.
This is an argument I find particularly intolerable because it's much like saying "it's ok to rape a child! So long as it is a homeless child and you give it food...". Teaching people respect and wholesome values has no reason to be connected to religion. Much like feeding homeless people isn't connected to follow-up sexual molestation... Or you better believe the Red Cross would have their hands full of volunteers.Finnboghi said:In general religions preach (along-side belief in God [or gods]) proper morals and respect (Racism and sexism aside).
well they're a religion who's copyrighted all their religious texts, they send cease and desist letters to any critic, they also sue their critics, they charge money to rise up in the ranks of the church,. i could go on about why people hate themoppp7 said:Why does everyone hate scientology?
