This echoes another judgement from 12 years ago which pointed out whether it's a religion or not doesn't matter as far as the legal status of the frauds they've committed is concerned. But yeah, beyond that, scientology doesn't have religion status in france.
It's worth noting the french branch was almost legally dissolved over this case, because there's a law that allows to dissolve legal entities committing this kind of fraud. But there was... Well, depending on who you ask, it was either a fortuitous error or corruption, there's probably gonna be an investigation, but anyway, a very recent and quiet revision of the law contained an error that specifically prevented it from being applied to the scientology case, and that couldn't legally be corrected before the judgement.
