I'm going to get right to the point.

Have you ever had a "Screw This Game" moment?

I just had mine. Playing Far Cry 2, which for some reason dosen't have an auto-save feature. I did a lot of missions, went to a bus stop, and the game crashes. Easily an hour of progress lost. "Whatever", I thought. I should have saved, my bad. I start the game up again and do a couple of the missions. "Aha! I've learned my lesson, I'll save".

The game freezes in the menu screen.

On a sidenote, should I keep playing Far Cry 2, or should I just give up?

EDIT: It can go fuck itself.
If it's on the PC, f5 to quick save. Quick save is just like a regular save, except it takes practically no effort.

Burnout Domination for the 360.
Because I already played and finished a game like it: Burnout 3.
That did feel half arsed. It felt like they'd given up just as they got going. And, as you say, just repeated the previous game.
For awhile, it was enjoyable. I rented it and played it with a friend for a Vault-fueled all nighter. When I bought it a few months later, it felt average.

I AGREE WITH EQUAL ENTHUSIASM

The original Rayman was a hard game.

This is more or less what I said after getting beaten by Gruntilda for the umpteenth time while replaying Banjo-Kazooie. (Not the Xbox Live Version, the original N64 cartridge.)

Counterstrike.

First time I ever tried playing it, I snagged an M4 carbine and wandered the goddamn map. Find terrorist, proceed to jam 5.56 up his ass. Have him turn, fire about two shots, and I die. See his health afterwards, and he's not even below 50%. Given that I had body armor on...

Fuck that game.

I felt the same way when I first gave it a shot. Hard to get into a game where all the other players may as well be Navy SEALs. But I play it sometimes. I die a lot. I prefer the Team Fortress of 2.

I gave the finger to Mirror's Edge a couple of times today. It's not that it's extremely hard, it's the perspective that makes me nauseous. At first I did the whole disarm and throw away the weapon until I found it much easier just to kill the guys trying to shoot you full of holes. I fell obligated to play this since my husband bought it for me. Definitely trading this one in after I'm finished playing it. I really don't see myself re-playing this game.

Resident Evil 4. I played for a few hours without saving and suddenly the power goes out. My tv ended up with a big hole in it that day

Metroid Prime: Corruption.

the second time i had to walk all the way across a level to get in the ship and go back to a planet to get something. i think that that is just a gameplay lengthening scheme and i didnt like the game much to start with.

Fighting the last boss in Gears of War without the Torque Bow. I swear I must have given it 50 tries before turning off my 360 and storming off to punch the wall.

Probably the most "oh, fuck you, game" moment I ever had in Prince of Persia was involving the health system.

I had just managed to clear out a room full of sand-creatures and by the end of it had only a tiny, TINY bit of health left. I figured it didn't matter, since I still won, and moved on, continuing down the path and looking for a fountain. I came into the observatory, which required a lot of swinging around bars and platforms. Whatever, no big deal.

I get on one bar, swing up to a higher platform, and when I drop down onto it, I die instantly. Apparently, the drop was JUST enough to cause my character to wince in pain as he dropped onto it, causing the tiniest bit of health loss, and ultimately killing my character.

I am now locked in a room which I have saved in, with no way to bring my health back up, and a puzzle sequence that requires I die if I want to move on. This happened at a point where I had completed about 70% of the game.

I raged so much that I didn't even touch the game again for a couple of years, and I had to start the ENTIRE DAMN GAME over again to get to the same point.

first things first, i stopped far cry 2 around 60% in, couldn't be stuffed anymore to do those shitty repetitive jobs again and again, i had forgotten the storyline or why i should care.

ok so, i have been playing alone in the dark, and you get to a point where you have to drive around central park and burn these roots... while hundreds of enemies that can only be killed with fire are attacking you. not only do you run out of ammo fast, but you die a lot since health is small and it is hard to find health spray. i soon said fuck it and decided to skip to the next scene when i find i cant because i need to burn a certain number of roots before.

i have not picked it up since.

Well mine was in Far Cry 2. I was doing a mission for the guy in the weapon shop; blow up his competition's truck. I set up an ambush, everything goes to plan, all the escorts are dead and the truck is sitting right in front of me. I throw a grenade under it to watch it blast off into the air. Works perfectly and while it's in the air the game asks me to save. Stupidly I save over the only save file I had at the time and when I exit the save menu the truck falls on top of me and kills me. Reloaded the file a dozen times and the same thing happened over and over...

I had to start the game over from the beginning and since then I save often and keep 10 different save files.
