Halo 3: Some really retarded ass moments where you're thrown into a situation where you have to be incredibly lucky or invincible to get out of.

Virtua Fighter 4: Final Fight. Nuff sed.

Saga Frontier: The Box. You cannot defeat it.

in Alone in the dark, exactly at the same point Yahtzee stopped I stopped, and uttered those words, and had never played it again (i already sold it)

Fallout 3, it just crashed on me and I had not saved in a long time (i was just fighting monsters outside, it never "auto saved") lost a lot of lvls, utered those words and have never played it again since

Legend Of The Dragoon: last boss, almost defeated, turns out someone scratched my disk, i have never seen the ending!

well, those are my top 3 he he.

World of Warcraft: Why am I playing this if I'm not having fun?

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance put me through that like, four times in one sitting, but I'd always come back. XD

Have you ever had a "Screw This Game" moment?
Yes. All the time.

I don't seem to have any patience for games these days, it seems. I am not sure if it's me or that what passes for gameplay these days is simply terrible.

Par example: God of War. For those who've played this, I didn't get past the boat. For those who haven't played it, the opening scene takes place on a boat. I found the combat to be, well, the beat'em up genre was never one of my favorites because wailing on dudes for five minutes so the screen will scroll a little further is just tedious. And God of War is that only dressed up in fancy 3D graphics which do not impress me because everything has fancy 3D graphics.

I will say that here the camera seemed to be less of a liability than it is in some games. but the basic gameplay was still garbage. Waggle the analog stick while tapping the button as fast as you can with no discernible indication that you're having anything to do with what's happening on the screen. I felt distant from the action. Not as distant as I did when playing Demon Stone, but still worse than the Simpsons arcade game. Should a game almost twenty years old still be the standard?

This basic gameplay is broken up by other styles, including a scene where you battle a sea serpent in the hull of the ship that I actually enjoyed a bit. It even included a quick time event, but I still found it fun, so go figure that.

Then after fighting more dudes, I fought another serpent (or maybe it's the same one?) above deck. This part was terrible mainly because at one point, the serpent grabbed my guy and started crushing him in its jaws and I needed to tap a button rapidly to fight back. This was physically impossible because the speed it required was unreasonable. The only way to do it was to put the controller down on the coffee table to tap the button. It's nice to know that Sony wasted their time molding their controllers to feel comfortable in your hands so you can set it down on the table to play a game.

But the deal breaker came right after when I had to push a box at a wall so I can climb up a wall to kill more dudes. I was never very good at Pengo, and this was worse since the box explodes when the dudes shoot it with arrows. This just seemed like a weak attempt at a puzzle to try to break up the tepid action thus far, so I stopped playing.

You know what you have to do. Log onto that game, grab your rifle and blow its tail off. Get to it.

Ninja Gaiden 2, after dying about 5000 times on one section of one level I just couldn't keep playing anymore. I hate ninjas now.

Majora's Mask, not so much the game's fault but:

Played for two hours, got Mirror Shield, got halfway through Ikana Castle

Game crashes

Controller goes across the room.

Played for an hour, game crashes

Controller embedded in dry wall.

Oh I have another one. Shawn White Snowboarding, the half pipe challenge against Shawn White. He spins and does tricks better and faster than is possible for a player to do. I lost so many times that I almost threw my controller at my cat.

Eventually I beat him but not without serious frustration.

Golden Sun, when I was younger. I kept fucking up at some part where you have to hike through a desert. I don't remember exactly but I think there was some deal with a tornado or something and I just kept getting sent back to the beginning. Eventually I just said fuck it and put it down forever.

Most flash games. I don't know why, but their the majorities repetitiveness can be plane irritating.

Also, for a commercial game, World of Warcraft. After receiving my umpteenth quest to grind a mob, I just went "Screw it" and haven't touched it since.

I'm going to get right to the point.

Have you ever had a "Screw This Game" moment?

I just had mine. Playing Far Cry 2, which for some reason dosen't have an auto-save feature. I did a lot of missions, went to a bus stop, and the game crashes. Easily an hour of progress lost. "Whatever", I thought. I should have saved, my bad. I start the game up again and do a couple of the missions. "Aha! I've learned my lesson, I'll save".

The game freezes in the menu screen.

On a sidenote, should I keep playing Far Cry 2, or should I just give up?

EDIT: Thanks for all the responses, I decided to push trough with Far Cry 2, but then, it can go fuck itself.
It can indeed go fuck itself. I don't know what possessed me to get the accursed thing. I'm surprised at the reviews it got. Also, the disparity between user reviews and professional ones

Fire Emblem: When I get raped by the RNG

I attack twice and have a 99% chance of hitting
My opponent attacks twice and has a 1% chance of critical hit
I attack first
I would kill my opponent with one sucessful attack
My opponent would kill me with two sucessive criticals

Chances of me dying: 0.00000001%

I died
I'm convinced there's nothing random about Fire Emblem's number generator. The game seems to have WAY too much active malice toward anyone brave or foolish enough to play it that I tend toward playing it only when I'm feeling too good about myself. I spent two years as a professional gambler beating the casinos out of thirty grand, I've seen just about every weird twist of fate Nevada has to offer, and I've never seen anything like what Fire Emblem dishes out. In this state we call that a rigged game.

The final boss battle in Resi5 was terrible. That quicktime event was..wow. Evidently I don't masturbate enough. Perhaps the development team all had hypertrophied hands.
