I completely disagree with the bad parts of the game.

I'm not saying it had none, but they are so different to the ones you said.

No doubt you played the game lke you would any other - do level, complete level (repeat).

I played it, and got a lot of fun out of it by changing my playing style - try and do it in the coolest way possible, not helicopter+rope=victory, but pegasus+bread+glue=victory.

However, the one fall-down for me was the lack of interactivity between two objects.

During a science lesson, I was told that Group 1 elements get more reactive with water as ou go down the periodic table.

I went all the way down and found francium.

'hehe', I thought, 'this'll be fun.'

So I wrote francium, got it, and dropped it in water.

To say it was an anti-climax would be an understatement.
But that defeats the point of a game, when you have to make your own boundaries.
It's like having a super Mario level that is just 1 long walk from beginning to end. You can still set conditions like 'kill all enemies first' or 'don't walk on the grass', but that still doesn't make it a good game does it?

No.
That's exactly what I said when I read what the changes were in ODST, or rather, the lack of changes between Halo 3 and ODST.
Did you actually play it?

Allot changed. I hated halo 3 but ODST is fun.

I hoped Yahtzee would answer the ODST question with "I already did" and a link to the Halo 3 review.

It is rather enjoyable to read people getting angry at somebody insulting them over the internet.

You follow the trends of Halo-hate and misanthropy, doesn't that make you just as much a locked-in-your-ways-idiot as the rest of us?
Besides that, aren't you also exploiting "idiots" to make money like all these game devs?

Oh, I see... written irony.
Ha, ha, ha. /Monotone

It just doesn't feel right... *Mother joke*

Not fully true. Sandbox games sucks, I'm with you in that one, but non-linear games don't. But this is the catch. A non-linear game simply means that there is more than one way to go through the story. This does not have to be an actual change in story or different path of a story but simply refers to how the player solves tasks and what influence on the game world these actions do have. A well crafted non-linear game is entertaining since you are still given challenges but you are given the choice on how to solve them. Sandbox games just throw bricks at you and want you to build a game for them. Don't mix the two since non-linear games are good but sandboxing is bad.

Well you obviously care if you took the time to read and comment.

I'd bet that more people care about what Yahzee thinks than what you think. Judging from the fact that he gets paid for his opinion and because of all the comments
Thanks for completely not understanding my joke.

My biggest frustration with the game was whenever I did feel extra creative, the game would often punish me. I summoned a snake to help me get a starite from inside a hole with a skinny tunnel, the snake killed me. I rode a cow and told it to interact with a semi truck, maybe it would jump on the truck and the cow would be out of the road. Instead, it destroyed the truck and I had to start the level over.

In both examples, I had to resort to summoning yet another rope and/or helicopter.

You thought I was being serious? I like yathzee like most people here do. I was just joking about the fact that he called people who make comments, vidoe, articles, or anything really, and idiot because they think people care about their opinions, which included himself. I'd say he knew this, and probably said that for irony. I wasn't tring to offend anyone, appearently Fanboys take anything to an offense.

You can't use grammar or punctuation properly though, can you?
You mean an abundance of commas, don't you? Give me a break! My grammar and punctuation are fine for someone who has Russian as a mother tongue, and learned English mainly by himself.

You certainly did not see really bad grammar.

The latest extra punctuation has made me confused about the stability of my mind. Because you see, you know that bit where yahzee says you are stupid? I was genuinely taken aback by that insult. Obviously the moment I realised this I smacked myself for my stupidity and rearranged my mind to fit back into reality. So what? I ask myself. He is on the other side of the world and I have no connection to his article save my purchasing of little big planet. But for the following reasons I am still a little edgy now.

Firstly the form it is displayed in is different to his usual 'you are stupid routine'
Usually he calls us stupid via video reviews. But having the words etched into my retina from the screen is somehow more personal. Voice is all very well, but I feel that writing is far closer to an individuals mind than what a person says. In the ZP vids you get the impression his heart is not into the insults.

Secondly there is the childish dismissal, such intentional generalisation feels reminiscent of school playgrounds where a lack of consideration is commendable. When yahzee says "You are stupid" He knows full well that he has never and never will meet us in person to evaluate our intellect first hand. I have no doubt his assumption applies to the majority of people, I can see clearly that I myself am a despicable excuse for a human being, what with been a sixteen year old British child I am automatically classed as a social equal to a smear of shit across a lavatory wall. Yet still I can say with at least a small beaker of certainty that out there is a man watching ZP who the term 'Stupid' cannot apply. If you wish to find somebody like that then type in "Gammy Goose" on you tube and become instantly fascinated with a man who you cannot hope to aspire to.

Anyway back on track: Thirdly and most importantly is the combination of all aforementioned subjects. I mean come on yahzee. Appoximately three times or so now you have addressed me in a derogatory manner. Don't hide behind your screen, it is all very well writing an article but how about you come over here and say it to my face!

Yeah come on! Climb through the screen next time I watch that first and quite frankly terrible pilot to Game Damage. As I stare gob smacked at the lack of humour in that terrible compilation of poor-quality scenes and absolutely torturous skits then just climb right out of that tasteless couch, through my monitor and call me stupid right to my stupid perplexed face you confounded cretin! You bounder! You cad! You ruffian! You scoundrel! You blowhard! You... Urrm. Anybody got any more insults? Aha!
You BUFOON! Ok I am all out now.

Anyway in conclusion I am not really hurt by Yahzee's hash words. The only real motivation to produce this thread is that I have not really produced any threads lately or, in truth, ever. I apologise to you reading this if you are suddenly overwhelmed with a unquenchable urge to call me a pussy, over analytical or stupid even when faced with the blatant futility of the sentiment.

Have you ever humiliated yourself by overreacting to a comment on the internet? Do tell.

I think this article is too heavy-handed, or at least exposes some narrow mindedness on the part of Yahtzee. It's good that the world is exposed enough to find those awesomely designed nuggets of fun that games like LBP bring us, but unless those nuggets of fun are designed by a professional they aren't worth finding?

I agree that there's a lot of crap out there, but this is just Sturgeon's Law [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturgeon%27s_Law#.E2.80.9CNinety_percent_of_everything_is_crud.E2.80.9D] for fuck's sake, so what is the real problem here? That you have to wade through it?

Tough shit, man; that's your job as a reviewer of games and as someone who bought LBP I knew what I was getting into so complaining that there are idiots out there making levels is a little like bitching that clouds produce rain or ZP makes dick jokes.

Opening up the world to comments and communities means that yeah, there are a lot of idiots out there, but it also means that you get to talk to people and filter out what you do and don't like (just as you always have) and get opinions from people whose tastes are similar to yours about what is and isn't enjoyable. You just get those opinions from people on the other side of the planet now instead of the local. I fail to see how that's a problem.

If Scribblenauts has a failing, then hit it for that (and that was done in the review pretty well I thought). The point about LBP is well made; there IS a lot of crap to wade through to find the good stuff if you want to play it online. How is that different from reading books, seeing movies, or ANYTHING you enjoy?

No.
Why?
That is because if you simply stare at Halo 3: ODST, then you instantly understand the fail that it is. His job is already complete! ^^

-no shields (to be fair you have "stamina" which acts the same as shields but there's less of it and as it goes away your vision reddens and you see little video artifacts)
-the silenced, scope-having SMG and pistol (which I'll admit aren't extremely different but they're different enough for me)
-no dual-wielding, and some weapon rebalancing as a result of that
-you play multiple characters
-the graphics and enemy AI (at least for the Brutes) have been touched up-- it's not a huge difference but if you look you'll see it
-it's apparently easier to get past invisible walls (which not be intentional, but Halo is quite known for "tricking", so it could be on purpose)
-Engineers, which Halo fans have been waiting for since the first game
and the big things, the shield thing to a degree and:
-non-regenerating health
-you move slower
-your melee is less powerful
-fall damage
