Assassin's Creed 2HyenaThePirate said:Some will argue that it allows people to try a game before they buy a game, but there are plenty of demos out there for just about EVERY game, you don't need to steal a full retail copy to determine if it is worth your money.
Modern Warfare 2
Command and Conquer 4
Bioshock 2
Silent Hunter 5
I might be wrong on this one, but I'm also pretty sure there's no PC demo for Splinter Cell: Conviction.
What do these games have in common? None of them have any demos, and all 6 have rather annoying DRM. I too, am Anti Piracy and want to see it abolished, but this is not the way to go about it. I mean, does it really make a company get raped up the ass by ninja seals if they so much as try to release a demo? Is it really that hard?
Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 are still 60$, which is still 10 more dollars then they should've been charged, and MW2 was released, what, last November? I honestly have yet to see either of those go on sale, and for fucks sake, Fallout 3's GOTY edition is still 50$, even used.Add to that the fact that you could either simply wait until the game is cheaper at some used game store, or buy it and resell it,
Not only does Steam and other Digital Distribution retailers not allow reselling unless you sell your whole account, and even then that borders on against their regulations, but also every store within a 100 mile radius of this computer have strict return policies. If you opened it, we won't take it back, no matter what.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you completely, but there is no good and evil or angels and demons here, both sides are at fault and both sides need a big slap upside the head.
This happened with Command and Conquer 4, I bought it because I loved the others, I got home, it was shit, I brought it back, they told me to fuck off.
So, like I said, I don't condone piracy, and it has caused some industry problems in the past and will in the future, but I for one get rather annoyed when people think that DRM is a magical drink of nectar sent from the Gods themselves, when in fact it is anything but. In fact, just because of Ubisoft's DRM I refuse to buy any of their products, which sucks because I was really looking forward to Conviction.
