A pretty funny misconception is that people who listen to alot of Black metal are actually open minded. That one makes me chuckle a lot.

Anyway, is there rap out there that is acually bareable to listen to? Because I have yet to find anything.

Yes, but you end up hearing the same names over and over again when it comes to rap and hip hop and the like.. So they must be doing something right, whereas I've never heard of you.blakfayt said:No, rap takes no talent, I can sit down and write a poem about shooting people and getting drunk that is overly repetitive, add some generic rhythmic beats and Viola I god damn emenim. Every type of music takes at least some form of musical talent...
Heck, I'm very very picky with what I listen to, but to ignorantly say that it's not music just shows that you don't have the slightest clue in what goes on behind the scenes.
I myself don't like rap, but I know it takes some talent to produce. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not music. Opinions are not facts![]()
OT: I would have to say that people need to stop confusing industrial with metal, I can hear the guy singing in industrial and it also has some sounds that are made by computers, industrial is, at it's core, metal meets techno, lighter music and identifiable lyrics, with super heavy guitar playing and good beats.
You've obviously never listened to any real metal then... Try Iron Maiden. Or Judas Priest. Or Motley Crue. Or pretty much any other metal band from before the 90s. Not all metal is Slipknot and Cannibal Corpse. Be educated before you make judgments.Insanum said:By classing "Metal" as "Music". Its not, Its just noise.
Although even i know Nickelback isnt Metal.
EDIT: Seeing as how i seem to have divided opinion with my post - Ill elaborate - I dont class screaming or throating gravelling as music.

Just because you don't "get" something that doesn't make it bad. I don't like a lot of dance music, but I wouln't say it's all worthless. (I fucking love Daft Punk's Discovery album.)
Might consider this to be in the [false] safe ground of 'opinion', but it's provably wrong through inductive comparison of popular consensus. Anything including (even just one of the followingInsanum said:By classing "Metal" as "Music". Its not, Its just noise.

Oh... that's better than when I come back home after a night out and proceed to be on the internet REALLY drunk and exhausted, which happens way too often. You are absolved.PayJ567 said:Sorry man, I have consumed a lot of alchohol, My night out fell through so I am drunk on the internet. Please excuse all mistakes.Daveman said:Dude, it's "riff". Also I disagree. Metal encompasses Maiden, therefore Metal is music. You ignore a lot of modern metal like Dragonforce who I don't particularly like but they are nothing like what you described.PayJ567 said:I completely agree. I'll also bring up this, to show how metal does not care for your opinion anyway...
See my other posts for my opinion on this matter.

Yeah, lets say she got where she is because of her body and not her talent. That's totally not sexist.RanD00M said:Fine, half naked.Still sorta the same thing.zen5887 said:That.. actually never happened...RanD00M said:Any by being naked on stage when there was a talent agent in the audience.zen5887 said:She has got to where she by working hard.

Well I think it's entirely justified for people to have a go at you if you classify music like THAT. Iron Maiden are Metal. They just are. I mean... they've got Iron in the friggin NAME. A METAL. *sigh*Insanum said:Once again - The way i class music:

She admitted it herself in an interview that when she was still unknown that she took most of her clothes on stage. And that there happened to be a talent agent in the audience.Or something along those lines. And I'm not saying that she's untalented. All I'm saying is that she wouldn't be the superstar she is today if she had kept her clothes on.And that she could be using her talent as a musician/songwriter in something better then pop.Stefani should be doing classical music instead,a genre where she would get respect for the music and not the body.Daveman said:Yeah, lets say she got where she is because of her body and not her talent. Who respects classical music? Classical music's just meaningless pretty noise. Uh, Elton John in Lion King, Phil Collins in Tarzan, John Rzeznik in Treasure Planet? Disney does, on occasion, produce good animated films. Not all their musicals have songs which I'd listen to by themselves, but to say they're not "good" is ridiculous. I'm not going to rock out to Beauty and The Beast, but it's a fine movie and the songs suit it.Mrkittycat said:a musical misconception is that disney music is good. It's not.
Side Note: I like being the only one listening to older rock at my school. Makes me feel awesome for some reason.
I guess that's somewhat reasonable.Insanum said:Once again - The way i class music:JohnnySex said:You've obviously never listened to any real metal then... Try Iron Maiden. Or Judas Priest. Ok, the thing is, there are SO many different types of metal nowadays anyway, It seems like (from an outsiders perspective) it may be a lot simpler to tar them all under the same branch (y'now, metal[/I].)
Now before you say it, I KNOW its the same as saying "If you dont like progressive rock, You'll hate classic rock", But if you cant stand modern day "metal", why would you want to investigate it further?
Wouldn't that be a recipe for disaster? Paranoid a la Black Sabbath was about some guy with paranoia/extreme depression (yes, I've heard the song), while the Jonas Dorks since they're emissaries from Disney can't, and probably won't, go near Black Sabbath!Lexodus said:You think THAT'S bad?
