I wonder how Cybersix is regarded in Brazil. I don't know how well relations are between Brazil and Argentina, but a good comic and anime coming from South America is still pretty sweet.Fappy said:Darker Than Black es #1 en Brazil!Torrasque said:I was going to be disappointed if I didn't see you post in this thread xDFappy said:Fucking "Darker Than Black". It's so good you forget its an anime ;D
ZING!
+1 to Digimon Tamers and Gurren Lagann. Gurren Lagann pretty much is awesome personified into an anime, just like FLCL is silliness personified into an anime.Jack and Calumon said:Boku No Pico
Neon Genesis Evangelion!
As for an Anime that isn't totally subjective, I'd say Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. That's pretty much awesome personified into an anime.
Calumon: The one with me? :3
I'll just share 1 anime: Zero no Tsukaima. Do you like tsunderes? Of course you do, even if you think you don't
Edit: +1 to Darker than Black as well, its so good ^_^
Half the cast of that show were lunatics. I guess immortality makes you crazy... oh... wait... Russo WASN'T immortal >.>Snippy the Shoe said:Baccano!
With immortal gangsters and two of the best homicidal psychopaths i've ever seen it is sure to entertain! Plus if you generally prefer anime dubbed then this is one of the best english dubs around.
Also Ladd Russo is the best character in anything. Ever.
(Warning this clip is slightly spoilery and EXTREMELY violent!]
yea....too much mainstream anime, and new releases too. Idk if these are obscure enough but here goes:SckizoBoy said:You might want to change the topic title otherwise people are just going to come in here spewing their favourite titles as opposed to hidden gems of titles that few have ever really...Tenkage said:schneep
Wait, never mind, already happened.
OT:
Fuujin Monogatari - a slightly strange character design, but an endearing slice-of-life/fantasy series.
Angel Links - the companion series to Outlaw Star and its rather whimsical counterpart.
Chihayafuru - an interesting look at a dying traditional game.
Cybersix is a fantastic series, considering the time it was made in and the content involved. I admit I have not read the original comic, but the Canadian/France/Japan collaboration was great. I loved the art design, and the Zorro like qualities of their take on superheros. Also, Hose is hilarious.Torrasque said:I wonder how Cybersix is regarded in Brazil. I was going to rebuke you on mentioning those three, since loads of other folks around here spew their love for them... especially FLCL, which I think is great and wacky, but not all that much to write home about.the doom cannon said:yea....too much mainstream anime, and new releases too. Angel Beats - afterlife story that really gets you emotionally attached to the characters. Great ending too.
Umineko no naku koro ni (when seagulls cry, i think) - It's a really odd mystery anime that I just loved when I watched it through all 3 times.
FLCL / Furi Kuri / Fooly Cooly - Quite possibly the most hilarious, most random, most awesome anime out there
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom - just check it out. I can't really describe it
My definition of obscure is non mainstream. Just because we may see a following of certain obscure anime here doesn't mean they aren't obscure. If I go out to the anime clubs I have been a part of, only the oldest(time wise, not age wise) members have seen or heard of these 4 before.SckizoBoy said:snip
That's fair enough... though I can't really latch onto a definition of 'mainstream' except by airing slots in Japan (which I'm generally ignorant of), so the only marker I have to go on is frequency of mention in this place. Not the best indicator, perhaps, but my one (considering how few of my friends watch much anime these days...). *shrug*the doom cannon said:My definition of obscure is non mainstream. It's a bunch of little stories with the only things connecting them being the main character and an overall theme (mushi).
I like it because it doesn't have a giant overarching plot, which will eventually determine the fate of the world.
It's just a bunch of small "feel good" stories.
It looks like my suggestions have been taken...<.<Genuine Evil said:Texhnolyze
Because it?s made by the same guy who made serial experiments lain, and it?s every bit as crazy and even more fucked up then that show .
Also haibane renmei
I cant really explain why that show is any good.......... but my god is the show amazing
I beg to differ the Tsundere is a sterotype...Lilani said:The characters are just so amazing, no stereotypes or moe.
Eh, I'll agree with that, but I was more referring to the individual characters. I could not watch Clanaad all the way through because the characters were so dull and so moe, and I felt like I'd seen them all before. But with Toradora, I was actually interested in the characters. And it didn't need a weird, pseudo/sci-fi subplot to keep it going. What happens in the show is a direct cause of their characters, that is what I like to see in an anime.Ishigami said:I beg to differ the Tsundere is a sterotype...Lilani said:The characters are just so amazing, no stereotypes or moe.
