Most choices in ME games have never mattered apart from the occasional "YOU ARE OUR SAVIOR" or "YOU HUMAN DICKHEAD!" you get from various NPCs anyways.
I think it's pretty obvious that some of the choices were meant to feed into ME3:

It's easy to see how many of the choices you made in ME1 and ME2 - most of which didn't have immediate consequences within those games - can mean something in the endgame. If you saved the Rachni Queen, you can be sure a new Swarm will come to your rescue at an appropriately dramatic moment. If you integrated the Heretic Geth, they might know something about how to stop the Reapers. And if you persuaded Mordin to keep the Genophage cure, who's to say Wrex won't turn up leading an entire army of Krogan?
Now thats how the end should be, Shepard should try and fight the reapers on earth with the remaining earth fleet only to crash and burn then a cut scene plays where if you saved the council the Turians led by the council come to your aid to destroy that reaper your fighting and take you to the citadel where Wrex and Grunt are awaiting orders with a united Krogen army on board the Rachni ships with the Rachni bombarding the reapers over earth and a happy Tail telling you that the Migrant fleet is awaiting to and there is a message for you on the monitor and its Legion telling you that 5 billion Geth foot soldiers, 10,000 Primes and 12,000 Colossusi are on standby waiting for you that would be an epic final battle.

I would say that all the choices you make are more of a gamble than morality choices. But I also never make decisions based on paragon/renegade - technically I rewrote the geth for renegade reasons even though it was marked as a paragon choice. I saved the Rachni not because I think it was wrong to kill the monster, but because I hoped to gain additional support for the eventual battle I knew I was going to have to fight. Could they turn on me, sure, but I was willing to gamble on that - not really a moral choice, very amoral actually.
True that. They needed to make decisions like that on the 180 and 0 lines of the wheel, like the Kaidan/Ashley choice in ME1.

But it was ridiculously hard to die in 2. In fact, you had to play the game like you specifically wanted Shepard to die to have him/her die. It was crap. Also a crap death. Hopefully they'll fix this.

Shepard won't lose, because at the last minute Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"'s Black Knight and Benito Mussolini and The Blue Meanie and Cowboy Curtis and Jambi the Genie, Robocop, the Terminator, Captain Kirk, and Darth Vader, Lo Pan, Superman, every single Power Ranger, Bill S. Preston and Theodore Logan, Spock, The Rock, Doc Ock, and Hulk Hogan all came out of nowhere lightning fast and they kicked the Reapers in their metallic ass.
I fucking love you!

What happens if you Shepard died at the end ofME2?
Will the game boot up and be like " Ha ha! FUCK YOU!"
then delete system 32 / RROD your 360/ whatever ps3 does to commit suicide.

He can lose, sure. But will it be as hard to do as it was in ME2? I heard of people planning out their game with the intention of losing and still being unable to kill off all their squadmates so that Shepard dies because the game randomly decides that one of them lives.

This is absolutely true. Origin does seem like it'll be the nail in the coffin for ME3. I have to admit though I assumed that considering you could lose your entire squad in the suicide mission in ME2 that something like this would be possible for the 3rd.
Can you please explain what Origin?? Sorry, it is just I have not heard of this before

Oh no. If only this exact possibility wasn't there in the previous game. Help.

Anywho, still not getting this if it's Origin exclusive.

Isn't this something that has already been in every game I've ever played?

If I die and my team gets wiped, it's game over! I lost, the Reapers won.

Now I'll just get a big cut scene at the end of the game about it.

I just want to see what happens since I cheated on Ashley with Tali, especially since they're squadmates.

Tali: "Ashley, Friendly Fire!"
Ashley: "That wasn't friendly fire..."
*Both start fighting*
Garrus: "I think we have more important things to do."
*Giant reaper out of no where"
*Galaxy explodes*

Also, anyone who won't finish a trilogy of amazing games because of a downloading service is an idiot(Unless you own an Xbox or *PS3). I haven't had a single problem with Origin on ME1 or ME2.

*Although PS3 users still won't be getting the full experience, so it's still a little stupid to sacrifice ME1 just so you can't use Origin.

Let's just hope it isn't as simplistic and annoying as last time. In Mass Effect 2, you had to *try* to fail in order to make Shepard die. If you made a single right decision, you still lived. Sure, most of your squad would bite the big one, and that was quite tragic, but failure wasn't really a present danger. Instead of trying hard to fail, we should have to try hard to win. Not everything should be spelled out to ensure victory.

Interesting but so long as they don't pull a dick move and have it so you can go into the game in an 'unwinnable' state I'd consider putting up with Origin just to see the story through to the end.

No, i'm afraid its the opposite.

Anyone who signs away their right to privacy to play a game is the derogatory term you used.

Origin is not just a digital distribution software. It is invasive spyware that you install and sign away your right to privacy to use.

Well, I got Legion and Mordin killed off my in my only ME2 playthrough.

So... I'd say I'm going to get one species extinct before this is all over.

This would be interesting if they didn't already do this in ME2. That said, I love it when a game has a 'you utterly failed' ending.

I can't believe people are saying Origin is going to kill this game.... NOTHING will kill this game. It is going to sell extremely well, it is the most anticipated game of 2012. I think this is great news. Because even if it will be like ME2, where it is pretty easy to survive, since there is a possibility to fail, then beating the Reapers in the end will be that much more satisfying when you beat them
