Really? One of my main gripes with the game was that its approach to racism felt incredibly simplistic. Like I said I don't hate the game and my friend and I will most likely finish it when she gets back from college. I just don't think it's that great.
Baby steps. It's a pretty touchy subject so have to tread lightly, otherwise people would slam it for either hate or not being able to sell. I mean look at "Imagination is the Only Escape", that has seen some flack(well when it's visable, no one is talking about it). But this is the first time I've seen racism in a game where all the players are human. I mean Dragon Age hated the elves.

Baby steps. It's a first and would like to see more games take it.

Well a lot of us did sign a petition asking for Sega's console exclusives to be ported over to PC so it wouldn't be nice if we didn't buy it now that it released.
I'm just mad at Sega for selling the game for $16 in the US and 20 euro in my region. That's just bullshit.

Also I'm hoping we get a Vanquish port as well.

For anyone interested in the petition, here is the link.
https://www.change.org/p/sega-increase-the-number-of-pc-releases-segapcports
Not sure if it had any impact on the port but I'm happy.

I wonder if it is due to it being cheaper or if it is due to the game actually being out of beta before it launched.
The PS3 demo of it did a terrible job selling it on its qualities. I know I skipped out on it based off of the demo. I'm going to guess that led to its lackluster launch sales.

That is a lot of people who passed the game up when it was apparently their thing... oh well at least more people got to play it.

So can we expect Ubisoft to bury PC next week on the mic? And for all the people who can't distinguish a storyline from real life to than give them real heat?

6)Perhaps more Japanese devs will consider the PC as a viable platform, though I'm not sure if it's enough to overcome the broader perception of the platform in Japan. Nonetheless, I hold out hope that we will see more ports
7)Hey Ubi! You want to know why people are buying this game? Because they can run it at 60 fps and 1080p!
8)We might also get more niche games coming our way! :D

In closing, vive le PC!
People buying this game because it runs at 60 fps and 1080p bloody hell...

Do you really think they wouldn't have bought it if it was 30 fps and 720p? They didn't have it originally due to the lack of a PS3, not due to the game not having slightly better resolution and double the frame rate.
Funny how the person below your post asked about the frame-rate of the game >.>
I sure did! Does anyone have an answer to that question?
I'm pretty curious.

If you want to see something that has racism where all the characters are Human, there's Wolfenstein the New Order. For all the games about the Nazis, it's the only one I can think of that actually explores the Nazi's race policies. It doesn't make every single Nazi a cackling murderer either. Don't get me wrong, there are cackling murderers, but there are just as many who just sit around talking about their life at home or try to pull their wounded friends to safety.

Also there's a concentration camp it in. And I've read that apart from the occasional Diesel punk robot they've got paroling now, it's fairly accurate.

This seems like a pointless article, or at least one to try and show that Assassin's Creed is dying... using only one of five distribution methods for this game, not counting physical copies. I'm not even sure if UK Steam every go it back. While Valkyrie Chronicles may be really old, but for the past week it's been hyped as hell on Steam. I've seen it every time I go to the featured items. Add to that, console players hyping it for PC player and it makes sense.

Japanese developers should take note that they can earn good money by making PC ports, because a lot of the stuff that Japanese people play on consoles probably resonates better with the PC crowd in the west.

This particular port still could have used a somewhat better adaptation of the controls. It has a few problems with control design like escape being used in gameplay, and F opening the menu. Gameplay functions mixed in with system functions in the menu, and tank controls being tied to the camera instead of the vehicle, which is just awkward if you don't have an analog stick.

Overall though, surprisingly enjoyable.

YES! This brings me all the joy!!!

As someone who was blessed enough to enjoy this game from the beginning, it makes me happy to see it enjoy new success. I'm also happy that its cult classic reputation has allowed it to find new fans who never had the opportunity to play it on the PS3. Solid games like this deserve more success. Honestly, It's like firefly suddenly becoming the most successful show of the year. After i heard about the card battling spin off, I thought it was over. Thats where good fames go to die. Hopefully this means a potential series of quality sequels down the line, or, at the very least, more unique games getting multi platform releases. For a generation with stagnant JRPG's, this was a breath of fresh air.

If you enjoy Fire Emblem then you should enjoy this. I was skeptical before I played it, but the battle system is very polished, and it's pretty easy to jump into. Honestly, it became one of my favorite games of the generation. The story is also pretty solid, though you may have already seen it from the lets play. I would still recommend for fans of strategy, however.

Yeah it is a fun game and it has a decent anime story with a good cast

This is like Xcom but better and more anime-like, with a very touching and badass story rather than generic "alien plot 23" style storyline. It's a pity it wasn't more praised all this time, honestly.

Hopefully, they'll bring over the third VC game or even better make a fourth one for ps4.

Also, if you guys like fighting games, Selvaria and Alicia are in a fighting game! It's called Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax. Here:

WTF with the Thumbnail. I know Selvaria is well endowed, but that just ridiculous.
The character designer for the game makes porn and one of his sketches was the basis of Katawa Shoujo

For those not in the know, Valkyria Chronicles is a Japanese strategy RPG that follows the efforts of the nation of Gallia as it tries to repulse an invasion from an imperialistic Empire.
Wait, wait. You mean to tell me there are other kinds of empires?

All jest aside, AC Unity for the PC has many problems. Including, but not limited to:

- being so poorly optimized that even high-end PCs can't possibly run the game on its highest settings,

- characters clipping though one another, including the PC through enemies,

- broken AI, to the point that an enemy loses track of the PC while he's still right in front of him,

- objects suddenly popping into view, to the point that you can literally run into something you didn't see,

- npcs changing to entirely different models as they get closer, (no, they're not getting more detailed. They're completely changing models)

- the same old gameplay that got so stale that the last game, AC4, had to focus on sailing and piracy with a whole ocean for a sandbox just to make it fun again,

EDIT - frequent and seemingly causeless game crashes. (how could I forget that?) /EDIT

Gee, I wonder why people would pass-up such a gem at full price in favor an old JRPG-themed strategy game. At least AC Unity has impressive graphics going for it. Ohwaitaminute..,!

VC outsold AC for a sliver of time and gets an article. Divinity: Original Sin topped the charts for two months and nobody said a word.
There was almost nothing else that was released at the time when Divinity did.

Assassin's Creed is currently one of the biggest franchises in the industry and Valkyria Chronicles is a port of a six year old game.

I didn't have a PS3 so I was oblivious to this title before I watched Unskippable.

Anyway a fan of tactical games and already got a copy for myself. I tested it on an AMD A6 laptop and it runs over 40+ FPS even when hooked to a 1080p monitor, which is good news for my brother who doesn't have a gaming PC for himself. Really liked the almost nonexistent loading times, which is something I heard is a problem on the PS3.

A surprisingly good port for a game that was previously a PS3 exclusive.

I got the game for PS3 when I bought my console but was put off by somewhat cheesy anime-esque delivery and God-awful controls. The idea of fighting through myriads of menus to perform every single move felt alien and obtuse to a person who grew up on games like Fallout, Jagged Alliance 2, Silent Storm, and X-COM (X-COM: Apocalypse. Heresy, I know. The tactics were pretty good there, though).
After struggling through a couple of missions I assumed these clumsy over-complicated controls were just the way console TRPGs dealt with controllers. A couple of other famed TRPGs I tried later, like FFT and Disgaea 3, confirmed my initial suspicion, so I gave up on the genre.

And now Valkyria Chronicles gets released on PC. I've warmed to "anime bullshit" games in the past years, so I'm willing to give it another try. The only reservation that I have is those goddamn controls. So there's the question: have they changed them in any way in the PC port? I heard they added the mouse support, which is great, but how useful is the mouse in the game? Is it simply used to click through the same myriads of menus, or was the interface streamlined to appeal to the casual PC audience?

I'm not exactly holding my breath, but still. Please, enlighten me.

Was this game really an RPG? I thought it was like a more direct XCOM sort of deal.
XCom is probably a better comparison, but it's more intimate due to being able to control units directly and go for more unorthodox strategies. The RPG progression is also more overt as classes level up instead of characters.
So like a Front Mission 3/4 kind of deal? Seen this game forever and was put off at what I thought the combat system was.

OT: I've officially turned into that bitter cynical guy who laughs at the big corporation as long as something bad happens to them. I've been sitting back and just loving how they keep getting bodied, even though I'm buying FC4 day one.

The art style isn't a problem. I actually really like the art style. My issue is with the tone.

Ah, because of the way things look you expect the tone to be more light-hearted?

Well, as for myself I like how the aesthetic contrasts from the tone, not a lot of games do that.
